No he wasn't , there were only 2 kinds of Capitalism then and now, State Capitalism and Finance Capitalism, at the time the Capitalists themselves supported State Capitalism because they rightly believe a strong inclusive Government providing basic services such as universal pensions, free medical and welfare housing meant that there would be no threat from C*******m and their workers could be paid less as their needs were provided for.

The C*******t threat lapsed and Nixon swung away from State Capitalism as it was lapsing then Reagon fully implemented Finance Capitalism which Trump is doubling down on after its failed.

This turn around is not new, the first WW and Second WW were conflicts between these two brands of Capitalism and the US cleaned up by being the supplier of Finance to the sides representing Finance Capitalism even though The US was very much a system founded on State Capitalism from Roosevelt's first term 1901-1909 to Nixon when the gold standard ended and the US embraced Finance Capitalism.

That's a harsh attitude when we're talking about the size of the economic collapse, an enormous amount of people would be on the road if there were anywhere to go, so the economy won't bounce back any time soon if ever, better that it doesn't consumerism is basically no good, tell that to China see what response you get.
