It's not unreasonable to think the determined 'uninvited immigrant' will find a way over, under around and through any fence we put up.
My gut instinct is the true solution to this situation resides in our ability to influence the Mexican government through their pocketbook. But that's another argument.

Wind generators would be a better choice. They could provide the required energy and serve a humanitarian, touchy-feely purpose simultaneously; generating power for the fence and k*****g lots of birds for the uninvited immigrants to eat after their long and ultimately disappointing trip across the desert. :-P
