A security guard told a man he couldn't enter Walmart over social distancing. The man then rammed his car into the guard.

The guard is fighting for his life in the hospital

A man who worked as a security guard was seriously injured when a man allegedly rammed into him with his car after the guard tried to enforce Walmart's social distancing rules.

The harrowing attack occurred Saturday in Quebec, Canada. The 25-year-old man and his female companion attempted to enter the Walmart when the security guard told them that the store would only allow one person per car into the store.

The man apparently grew enraged and left with his companion. The man then allegedly rammed the guard with his car. The guard ended up on the hood of the car and slammed his head on the pavement when the driver maneuvered to shake him off.

The guard was hospitalized with life-threatening head injuries. The man was later arrested by law enforcement at his home. He was charged with armed assault with a vehicle, aggravated assault, and hit and run. Police say the charges may change if the condition of the guard changes.

The family of the security guard said that he is the father of five children.

Maybe 25 years in prison for the driver & his sidekick would send a message. The better sentence would be for these two to have to support the guard’s family while he is in hospital, the rest of their lives if he dies or is unable to work again.

I agree with your second choice but that driver probably already has Child Support that he's not paying either.

I have run large metal stamping plants for over 30 years. The scrap drops from stamping all all kinds of metals, some very valuable, copper, brass, non-magnetic stainless, structural aluminum alloys. Stealing scrap has always been a problem in these plants. Your scrap sales are one of you top 5 income streams in most cases.

For years, I enclosed the containers with fences, multiple gates, which were a time consuming hassle for change out & expensive to repair when thieves tore them up. When camera, sensor, technologies got very good, I left the hoppers open. The driveway to them did not allow assess to the rest of the plant so the scrap companies could pickup, replace 24/7. They had ID cards they had to insert to remove containers. No more details on how everything worked.

When thieves were caught, which they always were, in many instances they owed back child support. I had the option for pressing prison time or alternative punishment. I always gave the thieves an opportunity to catch up their child support first, pay the value of the scrap to us last. I would always demand maximum sentence for scrap if they failed to follow through.

Judges were happy, I was happy, gave a bunch of people a chance to get their lives straight & some I even hired. There were failures, always are, but they paid dearly for not taking the opportunity.
