Chinese v***s19 vs Common Flu in the US

It would appear that C***d ** is less deadly than the common flu, so why are we allowing the damage to our economy from it. My opinion is that the democratic leadership has failed to bring down Trump so they and others of their ilk pulled the last trick out of their bag to bring in a socialistic response to a totally manageable problem. If we are going to get this flu and 90% are going to recover, then ruining our economy because of it is very ill advised.

Yup! Influenza is not even a reportable disease in the US and the numbers all around are significantly lower than c****av***s. That's why the CDC only has ranges of statistics for it. Here's a breakdown of this year's influenza statistics:
https://www.cdc.gov/flu/about/burden/preliminary-in-season-estimates.htmseason (2019 - 2020)

As of today, from the end of December until the end of March, 2020, the amount of deaths from c****av***s is 3,860. Keeping in mind that the population of the US is 323,000,000, the amount of deaths is very very low.

As a comparison,

- 1.25 million people die from car accidents per year;
- 635,000 die from heart disease per year;
- 600,000 die from cancer per year;
- 79,500 die from diabetes.

I agree that it is very suspicious that the Dems, who have failed several times now to push Trump out of office, are using the c****av***s as another attempt. They think that with all the hype and fear mongoring brought to us by their henchmen, the Main Stream Media, they can control the 2020 e******n!

BUT it is backfiring badly on them. 60% of Americans like how Trump, Vice President Pence and Pence's task force are handling the v***s. And one thing the Dems seem to forget to do (including the MSM) is not mention the fact that as of today, 6,461 people have fully recovered from the v***s.

I think it's because they think that there are v*****es for the flu (WRONG!) but they don't really know much about this bug. Mike

Christmas of 1983 My wife and I came down with the flu. We both were miserable. We had not had the flu shot .Flu shots are prevention not treatment. Haven’t missed a year since and have not had the flu. Researchers are looking for both a preventative and a treatment or codiv d19.Mayabe in a year they will find something.

Well Emily, where to start? First off according to the CDC, we have been averaging between 30 and 38,000 car accident fatalities annually for the last decade, Your 1.25 million is a global number that’s a total number of auto accident fatalities in the world each year, not in the US.

But The largest issue is your misunderstanding of the current situation and where it is going. Right now we have about 4000 deaths in 185,000 cases but let’s look back in history and see how that has progressed.

Our first case was identified on January 22. On February 22 that number had grown to 15, which if you will recall was the exact number that Trump used in his briefing I believe on February 24. From February 24 to March 1 that number increased to a total of 62 cases. So from March 1 to April 1 we’ve gone from 62 cases to 185,000.

Right now we’re seeing deaths doubling every 2 to 3 days. So if we can right now flatten the curve, and we are able to maintain a 3 day doubling track, we will double 10 times between now and May 1. So you know what you get when you do that math? Around 4.5 million deaths! Yep a lot can change and that number can hopefully be brought way down, but I haven’t seen anything yet that gives me a lot of confidence that this will happen.

So in reality, we have had a single month of true expansion. If you want to compare apples to apples it doesn’t work to compare annual data to a months worth of data, especially since we are really just getting into this crisis and things are expanding rapidly. So please stop passing false and misleading information, get a reality check, and stop making things worse in our country by spreading lies!

The yearly influenza outbreaks are probably potentially as bad as c***d **. However a preventive shot has been developed and is widely used , No such preventive measure exists for c***d19. If a codiv 19 shot is developed and IF people will get them,then maybe it can be reduced.The anti immunization movement will continue to be decimated

No, as much as the libs want to politicize this, it's not because of them.

It's because (say it with me) people fear what they don't understand. And yes, even if deaths are comparably low to any other sickness, the fact that we still don't have a cure/v*****e and how we've seen how widespread it has become, it scares people quite a bit.

No one has ever said that Dems created this, but they are taking advantage of a reasonable fear of the unknown! Never before in the face of other P******cs has over 50% of our economy been shut down!

What scares me more than the v***s itself is how quickly the media has been able to convince the American people to give in to this fear! Even though we all know the incredible bias that they yield, we are like putty in their hands! Our economy has erased 3 years of gains in 3 weeks, how much longer will it take to reach the breaking point & there has been very little resistance from either side of the political aisle!

Well media presence will always exacerbate any problems we have.

Once again, I think a big part is how widespread it had been (cases in every state).

The Chinese statistics of the deaths from C****-** remind me of the Auschwitz death certificates. A fellow I knew visited there and told me a that he read the logs; a lot of people died of heart failure.
