I heard something last night where a top official was explaining why "people" are having such a hard time understanding how exponential numbers work. I object to that because it cuts slack for the "people" who are being talked about who don't get it. People do get this, and there are far more people as far as the population goes that get all of it than those who don't. People as a population understand what doubling every few days means, that todays 1800 that went up 400 today, goes up 500 tomorrow, goes up 600 the next, which doubles the 1800 in three or four days, and that the next few days means 3500 goes to 7000, and 15000 four days later. People know that today's 1800 is 70,000 in less than a month, and the increasing daily numbers wont flatten off until three or four weeks after a drastic quarantine lockdown goes into effect.

The mainstream media is trying to be nice to clueless people, and all it is going to do is make them feel better that they can believe it's not just the right that listens to trump and FOX that is clueless, it's other people too. This isn't hard to understand, Italy got it after they had downplayed this for weeks, and realized that they had really gotten this wrong...and Americans including "real" Americans could get it too if they weren't being lied to by those they believe.

Media needs to do "people" a favor and call out who they mean that isn't getting it, because people are.
