Bare with me as this is lengthy. The only way I see this can be accomplished is either on the b****t or congressional convention.
1. Chane term limit for both senate and representative to 4 years maximum of 2 terms.
2. How do you relate to people whose national average is $63,000 per year and your annual income is $200,000 per year.(new salary after raise) Reduce base income to national average $63,000. Salary may never exceed 10,000 per year more than national average. Congress may no longer v**e their raise or benefits.
3. Who says they must be in DC? With technology today they should office in their district, be available to their e*****rs and see what is going on in their districts.
4. Reduce their expenses to $500,000/year. This covers their expenses and 4 trips to DC a year. They can use todays technology to communicate with anyone they need to.
5. We have over50,000 laws on the books. No one knows what they all are. Reduce to a workable number. They are really only trying to enforce the original 10.
6. Change or drop civil laws protect ting government workers.
7. Reduce every department by 1/3. We have over 2.5 million full time employees. Average salaries are 94,000/year. National average for citizens is $63,000. Bring government into line with national average.

These moves will save 80BILLION PER YEAR. NOT A BAD START.

Something of this nature NEEDS to happen, but it will never happen under a democrat, we might see a push for term limits when Trump wins another 4 years! That would be a good start!

Better yet make it so no one who has ever had an income of over a hundred grand can hold office.

Definitely need term limits. I believe many politicians go to Washington for the right reasons but, once they are there the lifestyle, corruption, greed and power takes over and they stay forever. These people don’t care about us!!! We need to be able to turn these people over every few years. Right now the whole system is broken and only new blood can make it better.

Some good ideas. let me add on some and comment on a few.
1. Chane term limit for both senate and representative to 4 years maximum of 2 terms.
2. How do you relate to people whose national average is $63,000 per year and your annual income is $200,000 per year.(new salary after raise) Reduce base income to national average $63,000. 1. I believe in term limits but disagree with your limits. I like three terms, 2 years for Reps and 6 years for Senators. Must have two years in civilian work force before trying again for political office, and no lobbying.
1A. I also believe in minority representation. Who ever comes in second for any legislative office gets to also v**e. The v**es for all offices are based on how many v**es they got in the e******n. The winner gets to introduce legislation, get on committees etc and the loser only gets to v**e. With a minimum salary, etc. (I've lived in Chicago for over 65 years and never had a Representative that represented me. No one to go to with problems or issues.)
2. I like that salary that is based on the average wage in America. To start. Then every e******n we v**e on their raise. 1% below inflation, inflation, 1% above inflation. No pensions that they don't pay for themselves, based on years served, and Medical plan that is no better then the average American.
3. I like that work in their districts with electronic v****g and meetings. Technology is there.
4. Agreed, but $ is to be negotiated and once set, with increases based on the same idea I offered for wages. Travel to D. C. in the back of the plane with the citizens.
5. All laws on the books now, must be reviewed and re-passed in the next ten years. After that, and any new law, must be reviewed in the number of years as reflected by how much of a majority they passed by. 51 to 49, reviewed in two years. 60 to 40, reviewed in 20 years. Creates more bipartisan support or a quick do over.
6. Agreed and k**l all public employee unions, including and especially school teachers, fire and police unions.
7. I'm more modest about that. Crash down play creates chaos. Reduce every department budget by 1%/year.

We could go on, but we both have some good talking points. Next. Thanks for posting.

Although I disagree, for once it isn't your usual B. S crap. I have no problem with someone who happens to have the intelligence and drive to get ahead in private life, getting into the public life and use that drive and expertise to get things done efficiently. I'm more worried about the POS who uses the office to enhance their own net worth as far to many politicians have done. Feinstein come to mind.

We have term limits. They're called e******ns. Do you really think that politicians are going to v**e for anything that might remove their snouts from the taxpayer trough? They did not elect and re-elect themselves. What will happen is the US e*****rate will continue to return the same douche bags to office time after time after time, (97% for Senate incumbents and about 85% for the House), and then b***h because nothing ever changes.

I disagree with number one. Instead, repeal the 17th Amendment and let state legislatures select the state's senators. Leave terms at 6 years for Senators and 2 years for Representatives.

Perhaps elect representatives by a random lottery of all legally registered v**ers in the district over the age of 25. Create a two-year budget cycle for the government. Each new Congress would consist completely of freshmen members, saddled with the budget from the previous congress and would create a budget for their second year plus the first year of the new congress. Or, limit Congress to three terms. Limit Senators to 2 terms. Just a thought. No matter what system we have, amend, or change to there will be problems and unintended consequences. What method would most minimize the repercussions of changing the system? Maybe none. Sometimes you don't appreciate what you have until it has gone. "Don't it always seem to go that you don't know what you got 'til its gone?" Change you can believe in, or hope and change, just for the sake of change is not a very smart plan.

Every time we mention Term Limits, someone mentions E******ns. It would be nice of that worked, but incumbency, jerry rigging of districts, party control, etc, in effect take away the fairness of e******ns.

All to often we get some real bad eggs in there we can't get rid of. Maybe they even started out good, but they aren't anymore and people v**e them in because so many of the e*****rate really have no idea what they are v****g for.

Systems stink and overall it just gets stagnate and smells. Sometimes we just need some fresh ideas. If e******ns worked all that well, there wouldn't be so many people demanding term limits.

Want to save some serious money? Cut off ALL government benefits for legal and i*****l i*******ts.
They do NOT have right to come to this country legally or illegally and suck off of the tax payers.
Don't give me that crap that they pay taxes and are beneficial to our country. Nationally, 68% of all immigrants, legal and illegal are on some kind of government support. In California it's 72%.
I'm talking about HUNDREDS OF BILLIONS OF a year in saving. We shouldn't let anyone into the country that can't support themselves.

I like it for a start. Also get rid of the alphabet agencies. Go back to McCarran-Walter-no muzzies in congress or any position on the gubment. Origiinal 13th amendment-no lawyers. More to start out.

I love k*****g the unions. Why $500,000 for expenses? Why not wh**ever the expense if the Pres. approves it okay if not sorry Charlie and they have to absorb it. Believe me politicians are richer than we are.
