To my knowledge this is still the official statement by the Chinese government... Although it has always been pointed out that it is not certain if it did actually originate with the animals in the market... Just the most likely cause...

I verified the dates in the article above.... Trump did make those statements and the CDC was in contact....

It is also quite possible that someone working in a lab became a carrier and if it took 14 days incubation before symptoms appeared, that person could have spread it in the market place without even know he was infected. Well yeah, That story sounds just as good as it came from bats or pangolins, or from the U.S. Military.

The official statement by the Chinese government is meaningless, whether they avow or disavow the origin of the v***s. All it is is a statement that we are supposed to believe. It could or could not be true.

Trump didn't make what statements?

It is possible... I wouldn't rule it out... Though I think it's more likely it came from wildlife...

I guess any statement could be meaningless... Research and vetting is important..

The article states several times that Trump praised the Chinese... Before the situation in the US went downhill...

Yeah! Probably so. Anyway, it's all an exercise in futility and above my pay grade. We probably will never have access to all the t***h, especially if there is something nefarious to hide. The t***h may never be known. Or, it might get buried in mounds and mounds of information and not reveal itself until long after we are gone.

In the 1980's I used to suggest that the way to bring the USSR to their knees would have been to take all our archives and every printed page of material from every government agency and pack it all into shipping containers and send it to the Soviets. It would take them over a century to go through all the paperwork.
Of course, this was when our computing power was much more limited than today.

Thanks for hearing me out! It is definitely a conundrum!

CHINADAILY

The US administration has been busy trying to convince anyone who will listen that China is to blame for the United States now having the highest number of novel c****av***s infections outside of China and Italy.

At least 35,211 US citizens have been infected with the v***s, of whom 471 have died. And the US is now the country in which the v***s is spreading the fastest. On Monday afternoon, the increase of confirmed cases over the preceding 24 hours was 8,464 in the US, more than the 5,560 reported in Italy.

Yet the administration was forewarned of the danger. China started regularly informing the US of the latest development of the epidemic situation in W***n and the measures it was taking on Jan 3. The following day, the heads of the two countries' centers for disease control talked on the telephone and they agreed to strengthen their information exchanges and technology collaboration.

Since then, all relevant departments of the two countries have maintained communication with each other, and two US experts were also among the World Health Organization's investigation team that conducted a nine-day fact-finding mission in China in February. China has never stopped sharing its epidemic control experience with the US, and medical professionals from the two sides have also communicated on treatment techniques.

US President Donald Trump acknowledged the efforts being made by the Chinese people to contain the v***s, and he expressed his appreciation of China's endeavors and t***sparency in a tweet on Jan 25. He again spoke highly of China's response to the epidemic in a phone call with President Xi Jinping on Feb 7. And as recently as March 13, he told reporters that China's sharing of its data was helping the US to deal with the v***s.

Alex Azar, US secretary of health and human services, also praised China on Jan 28 for sharing the genetic sequencing of the v***s, which enabled the CDC to quickly invent a diagnostic test and the National Institutes of Health to rapidly advance a potential v*****e.

So with the situation worsening in the US, the question is naturally being asked: Just what was the administration doing in the way of epidemic prevention and control since it learned of the outbreak in China at the beginning of January?

Some US media outlets have shown how the window of opportunity was wasted. Different departments kicked the ball to each other and the White House was intent on trying to downplay the crisis. As such, it was the inability of the US government to respond effectively that has created the situation the country is in now.

As the government has been dysfunctional, the US still lacks test kits for the v***s. It is only a matter of time before it becomes the hardest hit country in the world. The US administration's attempts to pin the blame on China are not going to alter that, nor let it shrug off its responsibility for the mess.

Is China pretty much a homogeneous people?

Or, is China a diverse culture populated by many races, many of whom will not assimilate?

Has China's healthcare system been driven into a s**thole by government bureaucrats?

Does the Chinese government have an incompetent congress or parliament packed with corrupt, self-serving politicians?

Does China have a two party system in which one party is trying to o*******w its administration and bury the nation?

Does the Chinese media openly and brazenly attack, vilify, condemn, excoriate, brutalize, and bully China's leader, Xi?

Is there a massive political ideology in China that has tried to impeach Xi since the day he took office?

Same here. Hey, it keeps the gray matter from aging (I hope, so I'm told)! If I start babbling like some of the others here, call the men in the white coats and have them come pick me up.

Seems like a lot of downplaying did occur though... Elsewhere

Initially they went after Doctors who were trying to bring the danger to the public. They responded but only after, like Trump, they tried to cover it up.

January 3rd was too late since this broke out in November and infected were flying by the tens of thousands to cities around the world and the States.
I have heard several defending Trump with facts and stats against those seeking ways to find fault, as well as defining him as r****t when in the earliest days of awareness this was first known and labeled as the w***n v***s by all media sources and Trump. But now the PC police decided w***n or China originated v***s is r****t...

Both my wife and I have been tested and confirmed to have the China/W***n v***s, I could personally careless it's origins and more about treatments, medical supply chains and wondering why we are slow walking a nationwide 30 day lockdown. Mandatory gloves, mask (when supplies increase) to shop at grocery stores.
We live on 5 acres in rural Northern Idaho and managed to catch this, so how many grocery store clerks, stocking clerks are now spreading the v***s to all? Closing all businesses does nothing if everyone shopping for groceries is exposed.
I know for a fact that this is bio engineered v***s. Now is not the time to fault, after this ends is a more appropriate time to look forward how to avoid a future release with punitive penalties. To my knowledge there are no official punitive guidelines for nations to follow and if so what about several other v***ses that have been released like H1N1, Sars and many others in past years..
The appropriate focus should be in the now of saving lives ....

Somewhat accurate...

It was a municipal government that carried out those actions...

The doctors weren't trying to bring the attention to the public so much as discussing it amongst private social media circles...

To be fair, they had little knowledge that it was more than a new variant of the flu...

They should still have done much more...

The response of the provincial and federal levels of the government were excellent...

Well, this is really sad news! I hope you are doing well and get through this with a minimum of unpleasantness. Please keep us posted on how you are doing if you are able to do so. God speed to you and your wife and hope you have a quick recovery.
