We are hearing only essential workers need to work!! So who are they,these essential workers? Are electricians essential workers , because seems to me you need electricity?Are plumbers essential workers,because if your toilet stuffed up,you will literally in s**tty situation which is not good for your health especially now ! How about food trucks delivery? etc......Seems to me we are all essential workers!.....No?

No. Plumbers are essential workers in emergencies, not building or rehabbing buildings.
No. Electricians are essential workers in emergencies, not building or rehabbing buildings.
Maybe. Food workers on food trucks might be essential workers. People that have to go to work need some way of eating.
Yes. Food Store workers are essential workers because the people that didn't get food because of the hoarders still need to get food.

There are many others but I think you are smart enough to get the idea

With our jobs, no way/probably not. Non essential jobs. Professional athletes and their whole organizations. Fashion designers all the way down to the local stores selling you your 1000th dress. Panty hose isn't necessary. Actors, singers, bands, all not necessary. Tanning studios, nail salons, barber shops, beauticians, bar tenders, personal trainers, Painters, Carpenters, Lawn care company, Do I really need to go on.

I have to disagree somewhat here. Lawn care workers for example. While not 'technically' essential, in a way, they are. As long as they stay outside, and mow grass, and play in the dirt without being near anybody, why keep them in? I see them every day doing their thing, and people mail them a check.

My wife now carries paperwork in her work, and personal vehicles from 3 drug companies, and Homeland Security declaring her an 'essential worker' since she delivers pharmaceuticals.
I wear the uniform of the United States Postal Service, so I'm just hosed.....period.

If I catch this bug, and die; I had better do it safely, or else!

I was merely pointing out that while there are many jobs we like for people to be doing for us, they aren't essential to the survival of a functioning society. You can make an argument for the lawn care workers, but a team of workers, driving together in a truck, eating their lunch in a truck, etc. could be passing the v***s to each other, and I don't give a damn how high your grass gets. It is nice that you have them, but they aren't essential. Yes, they need the pay check. Delivering pharmaceuticals is essential. Postal workers are essential. My bartender isn't essential. Cute and nice to have around, but I can get beer from a liquor store. I will welcome her back. Fireman. Policemen. Military. Doctors. Nurses. Yes. Politicians, now that one is really hard to answer as we watch some of then really making fools of themselves. Yes, everyone working can be considered part of a functioning society and contributing to its overall success and happiness. But in a p******c, if we are really having one, no, everyone's job isn't essential. But their health and welfare is just as important as the essential workers.

The construction company I work for is presently closing down jobs in NYC because those are fast food restaurants. Other jobs we’re doing, including a doctors office and a dentist off are going forward since they’re medically involved.

Hey sweets~~ Colorado issued its state wide shut in yesterday and posted this in Colorado. Gov identifying non essential vs critical needed services exempt. It may help you but this is Colorado's guidelines.. States are at liberty to define their own guidelines..

The critical workplaces that are exempt include:

Health care operations.
Critical Infrastructure, including utilities, fuel supply and t***smission, public water, telecommunications, t***sportation, hotels, organizations that provide for disadvantaged people, and food supply chain.
Critical Manufacturing, including food, beverages, chemicals, medical equipment, pharmaceuticals, sanitary products, agriculture.
Critical Retail, including grocery stores, liquor stores, farms, gas stations, restaurants and bars for takeout, marijuana dispensaries but only for medical or curbside delivery, hardware stores.
Critical Services, including trash and recycling, mail, shipping, laundromats, child care, building cleaning and maintenance, auto supply and repair, warehouses/distribution, funeral homes, crematoriums, cemeteries, animal shelters and rescues.
News Media.
Financial Institutions.
Providers of Basic Necessities to Economically Disadvantaged Populations.

Defense.

Vendors that Provide Critical Services or Products including logistics, child care, tech support, or contractors with critical government services.

We are seeing the dark side of many of our good neighbors. Sure there are plenty of heroes, but the jackasses are out in force. A crisis brings out the best and the worst in our society. The hoarders who said screw my neighbors. The people not staying home and spreading the sickness, screw my neighbors, this is about taking care of me.

I see both good and bad in my area. Normally there is no litter in my neighborhood. Yesterday I found an empty beer can in my front yard. I guess the party people are stressed. Down at the community park somebody decided to trash the porta potty. I know, very minor, but little things matter right now.
