and its complications and between 3,000 and 49,000 people die each year from the flu.
The number of flu deaths every year varies.

The average annual number of flu deaths during the 1990s was 36,000.
Average annual number over a longer time frame from 1976 to 2007 was 23,607 deaths,
with a low of 3,349 deaths during the flu season of 1986-87 to a high of 48,614 in 2003-04.
Each year about 250,000 to 500,000 flu season deaths worldwide occur due to the influenza v***s.

The only reliable numbers available are from South Korea - everyone else is either overwhelmed or lying. The case death rate published by South Korea is 0.8%. That is about 4 times higher than the published case death rate for the annual flu.

People are encouraged to tough out their bout with the v***s by staying at home when sick and taking precautions not to infect others. By damping down the Corvid-19 outbreak until the flu season has passed, and reserving hospital beds and critical care units for just those critically ill, they hope to prevent the NHS from being overwhelmed.

Anytime a health service is overwhelmed, the death rate will obviously climb. That is the pattern we saw in China, and are seeing in Iran and Italy.

President Trump is right to close the border with continental Europe. I would only fault him for not also closing the the Southern Border completely too.
