Corruption is all too common in Washington and some of the worst offenders have been here long enough to master the dark art of malfeasance. One such individual is Senator Bernie Sanders. While he can’t compare to the kingpin that is Maxine Waters, the staggering amount of hypocrisy he has accumulated over the years is immeasurable.
Here is what Senator Sanders has managed to get away with:
1.) Cash Steered to Relatives
It’s no secret that when politicians take financial advantage of their clout. What isn’t as scrutinized as it should be is that when they appoint their family members to positions where they also start to take home big pay.
Jane Sanders, the wife of Bernie Sanders, was given several important gigs while Bernie was mayor of Burlington, Vermont. Bernie Sanders would then move on to give her several large pay increases despite the city council telling him not to.
So much for oversight.
2.) Lucrative Media Buying Business
Sanders owns a media buying business, this field is extremely lucrative and went on to help out Sanders’ own campaign. According to author Peter Schweizer, Jane Sanders took in over $150,000 from the operation. Fortunately for Bernie Sanders, this is a completely legal practice, that’s why he is an expert at doing these things.
3.) Hire My Wife Then Get My Endorsement
Bernie Sanders also had a sweet set up involving his wife’s media buying business and his political endorsements. It was only after campaigns hired his wife as a media buyer that Bernie Sanders would endorse them. The case is pretty cut and dry (just ask the Democrats who ran for governor and lieutenant governor in 2000 and 2004), hire Jane and Bernie will endorse you.
4.) Unsocialist Investments
While Bernie Sanders is a voice for socialism and environmentalism he seems to hedge his bets on the exact opposite. A look at Sanders’ investments shows that he likes to put his money into fortune 500 companies as opposed to the pro-environment business he claims to support.
