How Government Red Tape Stymied Testing and Made the C****av***s Epidemic Worse

The United States is home to the most innovative biotech companies and university research laboratories in the world. That fact should have given our country a huge advantage with respect to detecting and monitoring emerging cases of C****-** caused by the new c****av***s outbreak.

Instead, as The New York Times reports in a terrific new article, officials at the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) stymied private and academic development of diagnostic tests that might have provided an early warning and a head start on controlling the epidemic that is now spreading across the country.

I don't disagree totally with your comment. However, I believe this falls under the heading of 'bureaucracy' - what some might call the 'Deep State'.

A bureaucracy is rigid and self serving. Although the original intent may have been good, just about all of them have degenerated into self procreating groups. They have the force of government rules behind them. And those who run the group are usually those who have been there quite a while and are very invested in keeping their position and even increasing their domain.

They certainly can't have renegades running around without being supervised by the program 'experts'.

Who appointed the leaders of these agencies and hyped themselves as the king of the red tape cutters? Yep, trump, who has had 37 months to deal with this kind of crap.

Come on, try to blame Obama for this one.

Nope - you missed it. The political appointee may think they are the 'boss' and they can certainly make some changes - maybe. The real leaders are the entrenched 'department heads' (those below the appointee level) who have moved up through the organization and have been there for years. Those who are immediately under the appointee can stymie any attempts at making changes.

If you have ever been in any sort of management position you will know exactly what I mean.

I think this is not due to political impediment but a wrong decision on the part of the CDC, and the FDA. I think the best decision they should have made is to having a grand meeting on all labs designed to create tests how to prevent and finally develop the v*****e. I think all labs whoever is seriously doing a job to create cure for this must have been given the chance.

We are now desperate how to control this potent v***s and all sk**led laboratories must be allowed to participate, create, and innovate. Whoever is the first to succeed must be so lucky and approved.

There is an $8 billion budget to combat this disease.

Just look at what he has accomplished in 37 months. If you can't see what he has done your blind.
