The winner of the contest was Seaman Apprentice Victoria Oluwakotanmi, a Navy reservist, assigned to Naval Operational Support Center (NOSC) San Antonio.

If someone had the temerity to suggest a Miss White contest they'd be tarred and feathered, so yes, Black only stuff is just as r****t.

Apparently the original Miss America contest only allowed w****s... And various Black contests arose in protest of that...

I wouldn't be too quick to discount the r****t aspect in this situation. I would like to know the answer to a few questions. First, in the traditional Miss America pageant, is there a race restriction. Second, is there a race restriction in the Miss Black America contest. It seems to me that in the first example, there is less freedom to decide what rules would apply than in the second. I really don't intend to make any judgments here but I do think that it would be difficult, everything else being equal, to host a contest in which race is mentioned - at least by current definitions of discrimination and political correctness.
