NO, I don’t but we can never give up the cause to try and bring peace at every opportunity.. It is a must in the true meaning of survival for all...

A people free to choose will always choose peace.

The real question is: do you trust the military (DOD-LOL.....) to walk away from this money draining activity that justifies their existence?

I get the feeling that when we leave the Taliban will break all agreements. I don't see how we have any leverage once we leave. The only thing I would think we should do is leave some kind of option open that we can strike back within Afghanistan if the Taliban starts pissing us off either with the drug trade or terrorism. Perhaps support some allies and not abandon them once again when we leave, as Obama did in Iraq and Clinton did in Afghanistan in the early 90s.

But at some point we will be gone. Historically Afghanistan is always a losing proposition to all great powers who go there. Once they finally cut their losses they leave no influence. The Russians and the British wasted a lot of blood and treasure there for no lasting effects. The only thing we need to take care of is that we never get attacked from there again. Maybe we could once in awhile send some military crop dusters over with weed k**ler to wilt their poppy fields, just to show them they can't forget about us.

We could also support some pro US groups with money and weapons like we did during the Russian occupation. Until the next Democrat comes in and we abandon them and we get another 911.

Time will tell, common sense tells us that the Taliban will ruthlessly rule Afghanistan within a year of our retreat. The Taliban will lay low for a few months and as soon as our troops and AirPower are gone they will return Afghanistan to the dark ages. The people who will suffer are the Afghans who believed us when we told them we would stand by them in the t***sition to democracy, sufferege for women and education for girls this will simply vanish with our retreat. Of course the administration will turn its back on the thousands of our brave allies who provided t***slation, intelligence and labor working courageously beside international troops for a free future for Afghanistan. We should bring them and their families with us when Trump orders the retreat, instead they will be left to be slaughtered by a hatful paranoid Pumpkinfurher. The shame of failure and bad decisions in spite of the terrible sacrifices of our service members and enormity of the expense will stain our nation as much as the helicopter withdrawal from the roof our Embassy in Saigon.

I suspect what you suggest will be a part of it...
Trump does not believe it either. But still must try....
