He sounds like a few left wing retired military folks I've debated. Their military service seems to make them immune to all criticism. They are quite intolerant to right wingers. If you do not worship them you are silenced on their sites. They put themselves out as experts on wh**ever current actions our military is engaged in, which being non military, who am I to argue, but most of the time I disagree with them.

Being in the military doesn't give one special privilege to dismiss the opinion of everyone who wasn't. This is, after all, America, and everyone is endowed by their creator with life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

Liberals are rightfully sensitive to the charge of being anti military. When they get a real Left Wing Ex Military type they treat him like a God. This naturally feeds the ego of that person to where they become amazingly arrogant.

Actually these guys are free to have any view they want. Risks are part of life. There are times when you can't afford to take risks. There are other times when avoiding all risks is your biggest risk. Twice in my life I had it good at big, safe, and secure companies, only to have them decline. Twice I had to jump off the sinking ships and reinvent my working life. Both times it really sucked and was scary, but I had no choice. I have recently tried to advise a couple of my younger relatives that they needed to do the same, and do it before they absolutely were forced to. Delaying the inevitable does not help.
