Very interesting and thanks for the lesson and a reassurance that the US reactors are safe and that Chernobyl cannot happen in the United States because we have containment buildings around our nuclear reactors.

To me, the human error is using nuclear power... Any power source that needs 3 feet of reinforced concrete as a containment tells me it is naturally unsafe...

So is fire if used incorrectly. Perhaps if you eliminated 75% if the humans on the planned, we could go back to the simple and safer life of one hundred years ago. Are you willing to be one of those eliminated? Frankly, I am, but then I am close to 80 and in poor health, and I am only one person. To go back to the simpler life that would not require new forms of energy, who would decide which 3 out of 4 people would need to be eliminated, and would you prefer that those people be used as fertilizer or would putting 3/4 of the people into stew pots to feed the other 1/4 be the better idea?

Though I don't want for us to go back a hundred or so years because of daughter and grand kids, (her husband would love it) I've told all of mine to just chop me up and put me in crab pots. Make some use and tasty food for a celebration of me, I won't know the difference. Of course they think I'm kidding but I'm not. Mike

As a retired nuke shift superintendent I will offer a bit. I don't have the time or hearing ability to watch the presentation. We had many hours of review and further study after both Three Mile Island and Chernobyl. TMI was caused by a stuck open valve and failure of the operators to believe their instrumentation that told them of loss of coolant.
Chernobyl was caused by shift leaders agreeing to conduct an experiment that violated their procedures. An idle reactor coolant pump was started injecting colder water into the core area. This more dense water caused a huge power escalation resulting in meltdown. The term to explain this is 'prompt critical.' This simply means the reactor had a power escalation on prompt neutrons from rapid multiplication. Just to give one little time. Neutron generation time is when neutrons are given off as result of fission. This is 1.0 times 10 to the minus 5th seconds. Kinda fast. That runaway was for intents and purposes a nuke explosion similar to a bomb.
Don't want to confuse you but feel free to ask questions and Google any of the terms I have written.
