"The powers, which are conferred [in the Constitution of the United States], the restrictions, which are imposed, the authorities, which are exercised, the organization and distribution thereof, which are provided, are in each case for the same object, the common benefit of the governed, and not for the profit or dignity of the rulers. "
Commentaries on the Constitution (Abridged) 1832
Judge Joseph Story
Associate Justice of the Supreme Court
Volume 1, Book 3, Chapter 5 paragraph 187

In our current political situation, it is worth considering this quote and thinking about whether the present administration is adhering to this premise.

Sorry, dumb......

This has applied to our political situation for my entire life.

But then......everything, and I mean EVERYTHING is Donald Trump's fault now.

I get it.

Why only to Democrats? I say every politician, regardless of political party or ideology, should be required to read it.

Did The Great Barack Hussein Obama donate his salary to charity like Trump does? Trump left a life of luxury to live in relative squalor and h**e to save America from the Obama Clinton Cabal and the international left. How has he profited other than personal p***e for rescuing America from the clutches of Hillary and Obama and the UN and the international left? All the while, Trump is insulted and sued and harassed by those t*****rs still in government.
Trump is the best president ever, and that means the best of any, including Washington and Lincoln.

<Koff, choke, spew> I guess if you're in ostrich mode, with your head buried in camel dung, you'd believe this. Otherwise, it's preposterous. He's spent $133 million dollars of our taxpayer dollars so far just so he can play golf at his resorts. And he insists on staying at his own hotels if he's on the road, regardless of whether he has to fly back to one. If this is leaving the lap of luxury, I'd h**e to see what you consider to be the "life of riley" that you think he's given up.

The Whitehouse is not luxurious. It's cramped, antiquated, and nothing like the Trump Trump Tower penthouse or Mar A Lago.
Trump is doing a great job with making America America First and building wealth.
You kommiecrats have a tough job trying to convince America that things are miserable because of Trump. Maybe for you they are miserable, but they always have been, as misery is the core of lefty philosophy.
Trump will win in a landslide, and with a new Attorney General, some of your favorite politicians will go to jail, or worse. Hillary being one of them, Obama the other.

Trumps salary is a pittance in comparison to all the money used to shuffle him and his family all over the world. Trump has been suing people and using h**e speech to ostracize those he considers his enemies incessantly. The government belongs to the people, not to Trump. He's not doing us any favors by "blessing" us with his presence. I wish he'd resign.

Democrats are not c*******ts. Trump is not a Republican. He puts on a rallies for his cult where he repeats the same bulls**t over and over again, like a broken record. He appeals to folks who feel they now "belong" to Something Special. The cult absorbs every word as the poison ether wafts through the herd. The crowd experiences something magical, but in real life they are being indoctrinated by Don the Con Man.
"V**e For Me And I'll Set You Free"
Rap on brother,
Rap on...
Conning is what Trump does best.
If he doesn't like the "squalid" living conditions he should move the hell out!

We all have retort to what is considered excessive about P**********l vacations or trips saying they are an egregious affront to taxpayers. But here's the problem: Trump's travel costs are not a function of his profligacy, but rather of his position. The same principle applied to the Obama administration's travels (which liberal media outlets surprisingly had few complaints about)...

Regardless, as president, Trump must necessarily travel with a large entourage of White House staffers, military support personnel, Secret Service agents and officers, aides, journalists, and vehicles.

This isn't simply so that Trump and his family can be protected from threats. It is so that the president can command the federal government during an unexpected crisis. What if something takes place during their absence??Someone decided to attack our country?? Presidents are never on vacation, available 24/7 is mandatory...

It might seem peripheral, but the vast envelope of power that travels with a U.S. president is a crucial ingredient in U.S. deterrence... It is a must, not a luxury!!

Dang it Linda. I had to stop and look up "profligacy" as it was not in my own limited lexicon. But now I know. Thank you. I learned something today therefore it cannot ever be wastedπŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘ Oh, profligate. I get it now - just didn't recognize it as a noun.
