Wednesday Devotional - June 25

The power of prayer. All of you are familiar with Jesus verse about moving a mountain.
MATTHEW 17:20 "So Jesus said to them, "..... for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move; and NOTHING will be impossible for you."
This devotional will concentrate on the power of prayer, the power of the spoken Word. Words matter, they are as a two-edged sword. They can make a child's spirits soar, or cut a person to their core. Count your words carefully, but never spare them when confessing Jesus. Should your words bring a wanderer back to Christ, you will be blessed.
JAMES 5:20 says "let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save a soul from death AND cover a multitude of sins."

I don't know about you, but I sure would like to be able to cover a multitude of my sins. I picture standing before God on Judgement Day and I have to listen to my sins listed; the mean things I have said or done opposed to the kind things I have said and done; BUT first I hear - "you saved this person's soul so we have washed away all the sins on page one." OKAY, so that may be rather loafty thinking, but I'm always a person who is filled with hope.

Because I am a person of hope, I will leave you with one more verse, one that is positive. One that gives you rightful hope and trust that our Lord hears your prayers - they are never in vain.
JOHN 14:13 "And wh**ever you ask in my name, that I will do, that my Father may be glorified in the Son."

From the hymn Sweet Hour Of Prayer:

Sweet hour of prayer sweet hour of prayer
That calls me from a world of care
And bids me at my Father's throne
Make all my wants and wishes known
In seasons of distress and grief .....

My prayer is that your seasons not end with grief

I thank you for your prayers and care. Only God knows the outcome.

We are twenty four hours into it. He remains with us.

Called a prayer partner, we keep it before Him. Praise the Lord.
