There are many layers to that parable. Its about more than rich and poor. Its also about heaven and hell and once you are there its final - and much more.

Ok. There IS nuance. But why skip the obvious pertinent points? Like what kinda bulls**t lands someone in Hell....

For instance,

my preacher grandpappy used to pause and give a shout out to Moreover, the dog. Pointed out that the wound care provided may have comforted Lazurus and provided natural healing along with the sharing his meals with the poor beggar. Something his fellow humans neglected to their apparent later detriment. Pappy fervently believed that all good dogs go to heaven, lol!

The clueless rich man sought to snatch Lazurus from Abraham's bosom to run personal errands!?!

At the end of the story, (parables usually don't give personal names to the archetypal characters, leading some to wonder if Jesus is giving an actual factual account of a true occurrence!) it still isn't clear if the rich man had got a clue.

Adding further nuance, whether parable or factual, this is some of the rather sketchy actual information regarding Hell that comes from the New Testament rather than popular literature of later eras like Dante's Inferno.

Your turn. Other nuances? I don't want to hog the stage.

Actually I would like to believe that all well loved dogs wait at the Rainbow Bridge but I believe that the loving essence of a dog human connection is what we carry into our final destiny, to be with God. Part of being in hell may be the lack of a gentle dog to comfort us.

Well said;

To me; dogs are strong evidence that there is a creator/God.

Adultery is a violation of God's Law, not Natural Law; homosexuality is a violation of both.

Why you continue to accuse Christians of bigotry when we are defending our principles is no mystery - you are a bigot.

The notions that homosexuality "destroy' our minds and that homosexuality has no impact on children in a gay marriage are utterly foolish.

You're supposed to be the guy who knows more about being a Christian than Jesus Himself, so how can you possibly be so wrong?
Adultery is a violation of God's Law, not Natural ... (show quote)

You're defending your principles? Don't you evangelicals view adultery in the same light as homosexuality? Well, you have a president who is an unrepentant adulterer yet none of you 'principled' Christians seem to care. This is why I say you are bigots--because you are exceptant of the adulterer but reject the homosexual because of your so-called principles.

As for homosexuality's impact on children--I would argue that a child growing up in a loving household is far better off than one growing in a loveless household with the traditional male-female relationship. Isn't Christ supposed to be defined by love? Why is it you evangelicals always seem to forget about love when it comes to marriage?
