Be glad you don't live in CA. You can only buy Ammo for the guns that you have legally registered. Unless you want to go out of state to purchase, in which case the state makes you a criminal for bringing ammunition into the state. There will eventually be a court challenge to this. But the gun-grabbers are more determined than ever to infringe on your Second Amendment right. Mayor Bloomberg will join forces with Soros to spend wh**ever is necessary to ban guns. Here is a case where I do begrudge the rich, not because they are rich, but for trying to use their money to trample on our rights instead of putting their money to good use for philanthropic purposes that benefit everyone.

Well, I suppose I am a law-breaker then because I have several guns that have been handed down to me from my father. I haven't registered all of them since he died. The Second Amendment is my gun permit. Then there are the ghost-guns that you can fabricate yourself and have no identifying serial numbers or marks.

Interesting... In Canada all firearms need to be registered... Even those inherited...

Technically, the same here. Of course, it doesn't help that the Obama Admin distributed guns at the border that k**led a CBP officer (Holder's Fast and Furious).

No, they are not.

Six states and the District of Columbia require registration of some or all firearms. Hawaii and the District of Columbia require the registration of all firearms, California maintains a database of gun t***sfer records, and New York requires the registration of all handguns through its licensing law. Hawaii, New York, and four other states also have a registration system for certain highly dangerous firearms.

Moreover, there is no comprehensive national system of gun registration. In fact, federal law prohibits the use of the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) to create any system of registration of firearms or firearm owners.

IOW, in some cities and states with restrictive gun laws, a firearm is registered upon purchase, but this remains within the jurisdiction, it does not go to a federal database. However, throughout much of the country, the purchase of a firearm does not automatically enter the buyer ID and firearm serial number in a registration database.

None of my guns are registered.

In Florida the first sale is but I could buy my neighbors gun tomorrow and don’t have to re-register or report the sale.

Except for the ghost guns. Ones you put together yourself. No serial numbers. Perfectly legal to make in Florida. Had it out with a cop over an AR15 we had built. He went nuts trying to find serial numbers. Told him we bought all the pieces off the internet and then tooled them ourself. He said he was getting the DA involved. That was six years ago.

Not at all reasonable. The gun grabbers want to do everything they can to discourage you and make it as difficult as possible to legally purchase weapons. San Francisco no longer has a single solitary gun dealer in their city/county. They passed so many pieces of legislation that were virtually impossible to comply with and involved so much red-tape that they hobbled the last remaining gun dealer who moved out of the city a few years ago.

Many guns are stolen and sold on the black market. So it is virtually impossible to keep track of them. There are also historical and antique guns that are unregistered. My father was a retired police officer. His gun cabinet was stolen about 40 years ago with several guns in it. Handguns and rifles. He had a commemorative issue LAPD pistol with pearl handle worth about $3000 that was in there and was to become mine. I was a little more than upset about that one. My gun cabinet is built-in and bolted to the floor so it is almost impossible for someone to walk off with it. It also offers fire protection up to 3000 degrees F. for at least 30 minutes. No one is going to take mine. But the government has tried many times. During Hurricane Katrina in NewOrleans (2007)? Residents of one community set up a blockade on the bridge leading into their community to prevent l**ters. The Police illegally confiscated their guns. What can you do in such a situation? Protest and get them back later. Unfortunately, law enforcement has a lot of yahoos who think they can also do as they please, and they do not know the laws. The courts reamed them afterward for such f**grant abuse of their power. That is of little consolation after it happens. By the same token, who in their right mind is going to get into a gun battle with the police over something like this? However, if someone came to my home, that would be a different story. Have you ever heard of the ATF v Weaver (Ruby Ridge) many years ago where they raided his cabin and his family was trying to protect their home? If I recall correctly his family was k**led as was an ATF agent. The authorities did not properly identify themselves. I don't remember the details very well because it has been many years since this happened.

It's a crazy patchwork of laws and jurisdictions alright. The Second Amendment should be the only gun permit we need. However, I am not opposed to preventing felons and mentally ill people from owning guns. In CA it is virtually impossible to get a concealed carry permit for the average citizen, except under very special or extenuating circumstances that often have to do with your work, or unless you are Senator Diane Feinstein. She is the biggest foe of AR-15s yet she doesn't know the difference between an automatic, semiautomatic, or a single shot hunting rifle. But she has her own bodyguards and a CCP because she is one of the chosen elites.
