Breaking: Attorney General Barr announces 'significant escalation' to shut down sanctuary cities

US Attorney General William Barr announced that the Department of Justice would be escalating their efforts to combat the policies of "sanctuary cities" to aid i*****l a***ns.

Barr made an announcement at the National Sheriff's Association 2020 Winter Legislative and Technology Conference on Monday.

"The department is filing a complaint against the State of New Jersey seeking declaratory and injunctive relief against its laws that forbid state and local law enforcement from sharing vital information about criminal aliens with DHS," Barr said, according to Fox News.

Barr went on to say the legal action against New Jersey was just one of a number of lawsuits against municipalities that employ "sanctuary city" policies to undermine the enforcement of federal i*********n l*w.

"We are filing a complaint seeking declaratory and injunctive relief against King County, Washington, for the policy," Barr explained, "that forbids DHS from deporting aliens from the United States using King

Barr said the Justice Department would also be reviewing the actions of "certain district attorneys" who lessen charges against foreign nationals in order to avoid consequences of federal immigration enforcement from more serious charges.

"The express purpose of these policies is to shelter aliens whom local law enforcement has already arrested for crimes," Barr said. "This is neither lawful nor sensible."

I'm not defending sanctuary cities or States, since that's the same crime as harboring a fugitive - however - these attempts to go after them flies in the face of the Constitutional sovereignty of States.

Republicans and Democrats alike, spout the rights of States to do as they please without Federal interference...........................right up until States do something they don't like. That spells hypocrisy.

I see your point but I don't believe that any State, city or county should be allowed to break a federal law that affects the safety of all people both citizens and non-citizens.
Suppose a state decided that it is OK for carriers of Marburg v***s to live in that state?

Do you think v******tions should be mandatory, under penalty of law? Do you think firearm confiscations should be mandatory, on the basis of a public threat?

We don't get to pick and choose, we have to accept the bad with the good, either States are sovereign or they are not.

Common sense should also be used---but it isn't.

I lived in a small city in a poor county in wa state and the problem we run into we pick up a illeagle and take him to jail and call immigration, they say hold him and we will come and get him, then days ,then weeks and finally month's go by and they haven't picked him up and refuses to offer to pay anything for the jail cost .
Being a poor county we could not afford to keep this up ,so we notify and if they don't show he will be released.
