Just because you finish 4 year University doesn't guarantee you will get a great paying job,but you would sure spent tons of money on student loans that you may never be able to pay off in your life time!! V**ech colleges are way better and cheaper and you can find job easier!! So I think V**ech colleges are better for your money and job market!! What do you guys think??

I wonder how many college grads are flipping burgers while the trades are in great demand?

I think it depends on the person----some folks are computer geeks, some are mechanical whizzes, and some are tinkerers, some are thinkers, and some are musicians. Depends mostly on sk**l set and desires in life.

My son is a pipefitter in the Denver area and he never had to pay for it. Work, learn, and make a paycheck.

Only in certain areas----the more involved computer sciences require a four-year degree, unfortunately. But the industry is trying to change that to allow certifications take the place of degrees. Most v**ech schools don't have the money to finance the higher levels of computer science yet.

Most can't teach software engineering, scientific simulations, performance analysis, AI, etc. because they can't afford the computing power to pull that off.

I think it depends on the different individuals. Some people are not college material and realize it. They make good mechanics, plumbers, etc. and we need people who know how to take care of the necessities. They don’t get their brains totally washed and so they make better citizens. Just my opinion from recent views of college grads.

Depends on their major. Liberal arts no----science, math, and computer sciences tend to be less liberal because they are working with facts and not possibilities.

I was in my early 20's and in 1959 or 1960 I was wandering about in the desert during Easter Vacation from college and was in Beatty, Nevada. There was an old guy who was looking for a ride to Tonopah. We talked for a while and he asked it I was prospecting but I said I was just looking at ghost towns or towns becoming ghost towns and photographing them for myself. During our talking he said it was too bad so many young people were wasting their time going to college these days instead of apprenticing and learning a trade. I believe that some trades still have what they call apprentice programs but they are probably not what the old guy was saying to me. I still often think of him when I see today's students r**ting in news photos. I also regret not having given him a lift to Tonopah and getting more time talking with him and learning more of his ideas. In our youth we waste many opportunities to learn or to gain more stories for our old age. Later in life I did meet and know a couple who grew up in that part of the country and so do have some stories about the hey days of Tonopah.
