From an email sent from far away to me, a one time fellow Marine..

The American Dream was a possibility: that everyone could head to the US and improve themselves, better their circumstances and lives.

That potential has now been wasted. The US is a corporate oligarchy run by those rich enough to buy your politicians, and led by a corrupt individual who acts like a Mob boss, speaks like a ten-year-old, and has the fragile ego of a rampant narcissist that has never bettered himself.

The US could be a world leader. It could set a shining example for everyone, serving as a beacon of culture, social development, economic and technological innovation, and moral fortitude. Instead, it’s become a culture that embraces anti-intellectualism, dismisses t***h as being inconsequential, and attacks those that are different. Not true of all Americans - but this is the US presented to us by the President.

Why do we laugh at him? It’s simple, really: he harps on about how great the United States is, and that is funny. Not hilariously funny, but funny in a sad way - because it could have been true.

Instead you have a nation that squandered any moral authority, abandons allies to massacre, threatens their friends with economic sanctions if they don’t do what the President wants, and puts their national security at risk for his personal gain. You have a nation where that same President (he who is supposed to unify the country) perpetually attacks his own people, encourages right-wing extremism, and flouts the rule of law - invariably imagining himself a King rather than a temporary appointee holding the trust of his office.

Damn right we’ll laugh in his face - it’s exactly the thing he h**es, and what he deserves. As for the United States? We won’t laugh at you - we’ll roll our eyes, we’ll sigh in resignation, we’ll lament the lost potential, and we’ll slowly back away from you, and leave you to the isolation that the President desires, because we don’t want this nonsense to spread any more than we’d like to sign up for a fresh batch of Coronov***s delivered to our doors.

Although, of the two, we’d say that Trump’s twisted brand of jingoistic isolationism, blatant narcissism and anti-reality narratives is far more dangerous. The other can only k**l us - Trump’s behaviour eats away at the very soul of your nation, and twists it into something it should not have become.

It is a shame how past military practices rattled the minds of the naive and inept members of the service. Thankfully the President we now have has changed that in todays military.

I don't ever recall hearing the dream explained this way... Think there was a bit of a process to it... And a lot of hard work involved...

Think the oligarchy has been there longer than three years, no? Or was it a sudden shift?

Never bettered himself? From millionaire to billionaire... TV sensation... Now POTUS...

Is there anything left?

Absolutely... No great innovations since Trump came along... (rollinf my eyes...US has over fifty of the top universities in the world...)

World leader?
Shining example?

While engaged in how many wars?
With soldiers stationed in how many nations?
Yet completely unable to defend its own border?

Or do you mean that if enough money is tossed out there will be some nations willing to grovel to get it?

Who is "we"?
Cowards who can't sign their name to an email?

What could be true?
The US is great for Americans, not for all the l***hes, beggars, and backstabbers out there?

Chuckle... One by one... k?

1.Moral authority?
Name the nation that possesses it?

2. Massacre of allies?
Where and when? The Kurds weren't massacred...

3. Economic sanctions?
First it was military aid...
Second, it was provided (more and better than that last administration)
Third, he learned that from all of the previous administrations...

4. Attacks his own people?
Only those who fail.... It's called accountability... Bdutal, I know...

5. Right wing extremism?
By supporting the Jewish state and denouncing w***e s*********ts... Odd way to go about it...

6. Flouts the rule of law?
How many lawsuits has he won?
How many times has the SCOTUS sided with him?
He actually gets in trouble for enforcing laws that have been ignored by previous administrations...

7. King?
Look up the meaning of the name Donald...

Can't beat him so laugh at him...

All the while b***hing and moaning like a spoiled child who was denied a cookie when America stops providing free cash and military support...

And it's not what the president desires that matters... It's what the folk who v**ed him into office desire... Do you see their support wavering?

The C****av***s has a lower than 2% mortality rate as of the most recent data... Real scary...

Because America has never been anything but the shining bastion of righteousness in the eyes of the world....

Oh woe... The empire has fallen

strange, I have heard this take on it from childhood.. it is supposedly how immigrants see this nation..

the American dream for those already citizens would be more detailed, include that hard work, also education and opportunity..

You put [ quote ] before the statement, and
[ /quote ] at the end of the statement...

That allows you to segment that part of the post you are replying to...

You then write your reply to that part of the post and repeat the process for the next part...

Sadly this sums it up, however all is not loss the tarnish the Cheeto faced S**tgibbon has put on our nation will be washed away over time. We just need to work so he is out of office as soon as possible and then prosecuted for every crime he has committed. The most important question I want answered by any democrat running for the nomination is will you promise not to pardon Trump or any of his family members?
