St. Jude Family Criticized After Thanking Eric Trump for $16.3 Million Donation
By Natalia Mittelstadt | July 10, 2018 | 5:03pm EDT

After thanking Eric Trump for helping to raise $16.3 million for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, a Tennessee woman has been criticized on Twitter for being grateful to President Donald Trump’s son.

On June 27, Sherrie Hopper of Memphis, Tenn., whose nephew Zachary had received treatment from St. Jude’s, tweeted, “@EricTrump Thank you for your commitment to St. Jude. This St. Jude family is eternally grateful.”
(Twitter.)

The next day, Eric Trump retweeted it, saying, “.@StJude is the best cause in the world! It has truly been one of the most important and meaningful missions of my life.”

After that, Hopper and Trump were attacked on Twitter, which caused her to post a #WalkAway video, explaining that she had already told her story of walking away from the Democratic Party, and that “this just solidifies why I walked away.”

In the video, she explained what happened and how people had been criticizing her and Trump: “And I said thank you to Eric. I tweeted at him through my radio show. And I didn’t expect any response—I mean, come on, it’s Trump’s—right? He liked it this morning, which excited me—it’s on my radio show page—on my twitter. This afternoon, he retweeted it. And the h**e that has come out is unreal. Unreal.
(Twitter.)

“They’ve not only attacked him, they’ve attacked—they’ve said stuff to me, they—I mean that’s why I had to show you he [Zachary] was real, because they may even accuse me of not having a real St. Jude kid," said Hopper.
(Twitter.)

“This whole thing that is going on with this—the vitriol, the angry—the nastiness, just the h**e that is surrounding the president and his family and just anybody who is affiliated with him at all is just—it’s just awful,” she said.

“I don’t understand how we have become so h**eful in our society,” the woman said. “I don’t get it and all I did was say thank you, and I’ve been getting tweeted at nasty, he’s been getting—I mean, all I said was thank you.”

Since then, Hopper has been accused of being a Russian bot, leading her to tweet, “I have news for you all. I am not a Russian bot. I just happen to be grateful to people that help my family and that includes @EricTrump Get a grip sometimes people have a different way to see the world.”

Both Donald Trump, Jr. and Eric Trump have tweeted about the incident. Yesterday, Trump, Jr. tweeted, “Does the hatred of the far left know no bounds? This is truly sick. St Jude family, attacked after thanking Eric Trump for $16 mil in donations. Now, they're fighting back.”

Sherrie Hopper is the host of the #19Strong Show at KWAMggo AM Talk Radio- The Community Voice of Memphis in Memphis, Tenn. She is a wife and the mother of three children. She holds a Master's degree in political science from the University of Memphis.

Common sense folks just have no tolerance for distraction by donation. Just because you give away money you’ve stolen from other people or pretend to promote honesty and integrity while stealing from charities and such isn’t enough to keep honest people from believing the lies

Surely I misunderstood your post. You’re accusing someone of stealing and contributing for credit? Is that really what you said? Is it only because it was someone named Trump.? Has our hatred of one another grown so ridiculous. That mother was grateful to St. Jude’s and a contributor for helping her child. That was a beautiful moment and makes all of us aware of the goodness that exists in America in spite of everything.

You should look closely at the Clinton Foundation and where that money has and hasn't gone. all it is, is for laundering money and the contributions are drying up, which is a good thing. WHY do you not think the Trumps or conservatives shouldn't make donations? In studies done, it's been documented that conservatives give far more than liberals.

Sounds like you yourself are on the same hatred bandwagon. Because it's from the Trumps, it's automatically "stolen" money?

Get a life!

You may have an excellent point. I’ve always heard that to be respected you must respect yourself.

Can you backup your twisted statement with some sort of evidence? Or, has TDS rotted your tiny, sick mind?
