So, this person tried to hurt your feelings and you seem to be contemplating leaving OPP. I will offer you this. Some people try to claim superiority over others by initiating insults. You need not be offended, you are entitled to laugh at their remarks knowing the t***h. It is clear that someone was offended because they do not have an education equal to yours and they have never learned how to use a dictionary to look up polysyllabic words. Do not concern yourself with their obvious ignorance.

As for leaving OPP over such a petty thing, it would reflect badly on you. You would be bowing and allowing ignorance to dictate your actions and decisions. I will not beg you to reconsider but, I will say that you would be missed and irreplaceable.

I just found it hilarious is all.

When I opened the forum this morning and saw my PM highlighted, I opened it and had a good laugh. Normally, I would have simply deleted the message and moved on, but I felt compelled to respond. Here's my response:

This is the first time in the 7 years I've been a member of OPP that I have received an insult in a PM. If you are going to ignore forum rules and insult someone in a PM, at least be "tactful" and have the courtesy to explain what the hell you are talking about. If by "tongues" you mean foreign languages and if by "forum language" you mean English, then just say so.

I've seen trolls come and go, lots of them. Your message to me fits the definition of trolling and in this case you are making it personal. Forum admin frowns on such tactics, but there is nothing admin can do unless the recipient of your attack reports your foolishness. I won't do that.

This may come as a shock to you, but quite a number of OPP members are well educated, sophisticated and well traveled, some of us speak more than one language. And, there are some, such as yourself, who have difficulty writing or speaking in their native language.

Members of OPP have posted in English, Spanish, French, Italian, German, Russian, Latin, Farsi, Arabic, and Hebrew, among others. If that is a problem for you, it is easy enough to solve. Just ignore the posts in "tongues" and stick to those in "forum language".

I suggest you refrain from insulting members with a thoughtless private message.

I can't recall that you and I have ever agreed on much of anything, Blade. But name-calling seems a waste of energy to me (attack the problem, not the person) and to do so via PM seems the coward's way.

However as a moderator, having viewed more than my fair share of trolls it might prove reckless to let someone know on a bulletin board in front of everyone what the new crop of trolls is like.
