Of course, since it happened in Texas, there is no reason to control guns in the hands on minors
You mean that accidents happen? Horribly sad but still accidents happen.
Your hypocritical tear noted.
It's an unbelievable statistic: According to the CDC, drowning is the number one cause of unintentional death for children between the ages of 1 and 4. And according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, 390 deaths a year on average are attributed to drowning in a swimming pool or at a spa.
The effects are a lot stronger for teens than for adults because teens are still growing and developing. In 2005, 7420 teens died or injured in DUI crashes. Teen fatalities make up one-fifth of all alcohol-related crashes, though licensed teens make up only about 6% of the overall licensed population.

I guess that means we shouldn’t have laws against drinking and driving or fencing in swimming pools.

Well, you guessed wrong - as usual.
There are currently laws against drunk driving and we still have deaths occur. And there are laws regarding fences and swimming pools; yet there are still deaths.
Exactly what gun control law would have prevented what appears to be an accident?

Precluding 16 year kids from using hand guns unsupervised might be a place to start.

18 U.S.C. § 922(x)
Next brilliant idea?
Nope, that doesn’t preclude someone from allowing a 16 year old kid from using a gun, just a dealer selling them one.
