Amy Klobuchar just destroyed Bernie Sanders's 'pipe dream' healthcare plan

Sen. Amy Klobuchar dismantled Bernie Sanders's vision for Medicare for All by pointing out that, all of its theoretical problems aside, it isn't practical because most Democrats don't support it.
To illustrate the point, she echoed some advice she had recently received while visiting Vegas: "Don't put your chips on a number on the wheel that isn't even on the wheel." Medicare for All, she said, is just a pipe dream because most Democrats in Congress don't support it.
"Over two-thirds of the Democrats in the U.S. Senate are not on the bill that you and Senator Warren are on ... You have numerous House members that put Nancy Pelosi in as speaker" who don't support Medicare for All, she added. "The answer is a nonprofit public option. The answer is — the real debate we should be having is how do we make it easier for people to get coverage for addiction and mental health ... and then finally, what do we do about long-term care — the elephant that doesn't even fit in this room."
Later, she was given a chance to expand and take Sanders to task for lacking any credible explanation as to how his plan would be funded.
"If you want to be practical and progressive at the same time, and have a plan and not a pipe dream, then you have to show how you're going to pay for it," she said. "And I would also note, practically, that the Affordable Care Act right now is 10 points more popular than the president of the United States."
This was a great answer. Klobuchar, an underdog, successfully dismantled Sanders's pie-in-the-sky, ideological vision for healthcare by turning to practical healthcare issues that people face.
Klobuchar is right — Medicare for All would not become law, not even under a President Sanders, not even if he were elected with a Democratic Senate majority. To build one's campaign on such a foundation of sand as this healthcare plan would be foolish.

Klobuchar is far and away the most moderate Democrat left. And she has no chance.
