He is not winning, he is jacking up some points on a counter that is disconnected with reality. Which only makes for the bigger tragedy when the bubble can no longer be sustained.

I don't believe either of us is not rooting for the USA. There simply exist fundamental differences regarding the correct approach to getting on with things.

Putin is not a new president, he does not get a whole new cabinet. You are missing the point of why this is happening, as well as how it could happen. Putin is making up his own rules so as not to leave office, because this is what defacto dictators do. He already extended term limits from four years to six, and now that his last term is coming to an end has decided he wants to continue to control Russia.

Putin has maintained a brutal control, anyone who has dared to oppose him had died or been prosecuted. None of his current cabinet would dare to oppose him, of course they all resigned. His new cabinet will be toadies like Trump's Barr who will let him call the shots.

Unemployment was trending down when he took office, the stock market goes up before it comes down, and we know it's coming down, the two "new" trade deals are on the heels of the train wrecks that he created by tearing up the old ones and are not as good as what we had without the unnecessary pain caused by ending the old...and by the way, the biggest trade deal with Iran has not had a single effort to do anything constructive rather than destructive...
