If the school actually did expel the girl for that... (

I can understand the rule against E- cigarettes and I don't see anything in the Bible that says shaving the sides of one's head is sinful (although it's kind of weird), but expelling a student for wearing a sweater with a rainbow on it and having a rainbow birthday cake is just plain going too far! According to Gen. 9: 11-13, God placed the rainbow in the sky as a sign that He will never again destroy the world by flood. Until fairly recently, rainbows have always symbolized God's promises. Besides, the girl celebrated her birthday OFF campus, so what's the big deal? I'm getting sick and tired of being unable to wear rainbows myself, so isn't it about time that Christians took back the REAL meaning of the rainbow?
As for separation of church and state, I was taught that means that the government can't tell people who to worship, what faith to follow or what church to attend (that's why Pilgrims left England in the first place, remember?), so yes, I would say that forbidding prayer in school or anywhere else is a violation of both freedom of speech and of religion.
