A Thermos: how does it know to keep something hot or cold?

There are probably not a lot here that bother with such deep thoughts. Leave it to the Einsteins in the world as long as your coffee is hot and ice tea cold. I don't blame such thinking. Such great mysteries as the thermos, that have flummoxed great minds throughout history, does not put bread on the table or pay for a child's braces. Why bother? Again, leave it to the eggheads.

So when the president told me he personally blesses each thermos to properly warm or chill, and was the inventor of it, I bowed in awe and appreciation. He is, truly, God-like.
