GOP Strategist Reveals The Only Thing Republicans Now Stand For
“Republicans are now officially the character doesn’t count party," wrote Stuart Stevens in a scathing editorial for The Washington Post.
Stuart Stevens, a top Republican Party strategist in the 2012 e******n, has torn into the current GOP in a new editorial for The Washington Post in which he lambasted its lawmakers for now only standing for what President Donald Trump has just tweeted.
Stevens noted in the op-ed published Wednesday— titled “Wake up, Republicans. Your party stands for all the wrong things now” — that most Republicans would have until only-recently agreed the party stood for “some basic principles” such as “fiscal sanity, free trade, strong on Russia, and that character and personal responsibility count.”
But now the party “actively opposes” those issues, he explained.
“Republicans are now officially the character doesn’t count party, the personal responsibility just proves you have failed to blame the other guy party, the deficit doesn’t matter party, the Russia is our ally party, and the I’m-right-and-you-are-human-scum party,” said Stevens, who is now working with a political action committee backing former Massachusetts Gov. Bill Weld’s (R) run against Trump’s 2020 ree******n.
“Yes, it’s President Trump’s party now, but it stands only for what he has just tweeted,” he added.
Stevens said the impeachment of Trump over the Ukraine scandal “and all that has led to it should signal a day of reckoning.”
“A party that has as its sole purpose the protection and promotion of its leader, wh**ever he thinks, is not on a sustainable path,” he wrote, later adding: “I’d like to say that I believe the party I spent so many years fighting for could rise to the challenge of this moment. But there have been too many lies for too long.”

This is only one of several cracks in the facade of party “unity”.

I love it when Trumpkins see a post like this and try to push the narrative off on a tangent of whataboutisms and off topic rubbish in a scaredy cat attempt to avoid confronting the fact that the person quoted here is a prominent REPUBLICAN...

Republicans, unlike democrats, feel free to have dissenting opinions......

I thought my comment was right on target and not "playing dodgeball".

He posted his opinion. That's what freedom is all about. Now, what happens when to most democrats when they post an opinion that differs from the party line? Usually Nancy comes down on them. Just my opinion.

I wonder if this RINO might be just a little bit prejudiced since he is working for a PAC supporting another RINO for president?

Character, values, morals of the GOP compared to who? You reckon he's
silly enough to compare them to the Progressive's, are you? That's a no brainer but then I should probably have taken into consideration both of your own claims to objectivity.

Once again I must call on the wisdom of that ancient great philosopher, Gorgantus, when he said, "el Dominos, ah los triginomous." A literal t***slation would be: "I don't remember if was Shakespere or Truman that said 'wh**ever could be always should."' Profound isn't it? I'm contaminated, good grief, I've been contaminated. I'm beginning to sound like a progressive. 😢

The big test for the Supreme Court is on the horizon. Is it going to protect democracy or protect Trump? It can't do both.
