Respected veteran journalist calls out his profession for betraying its principles going after Trump
By Thomas Lifson

Few are the establishment journalists willing to tell the t***h about their profession, which largely has abandoned its commitment to objectivity in the cause of opposing resident Trump and, if possible, driving him from office. One brave soul with standing in the profession just did so. Dennis Byrne, who for decades was a columnist for the Chicago Tribune and Chicago Sun-Times and now is retired, has published a remarkable call for journalists to regain their sanity. The title of his column, published on his blog, The Barbershop, tells the story: “As a one-time journalist, I'm deeply ashamed of today's media.”

He continues:

I once was a journalist and proud of my profession.

No longer.

Today's media are habitually violating what once were the profession's governing principles: that the news must be reported objectively, fairly and without bias. As the report of Justice Department's Inspector General Michael Horowitz reveals, the media fed the nation a steaming pile of BS.

For years, their unrelenting h**ed of President Donald Trump has been their guiding principle.

What lends creditability is that Byrne is no fan of the 45th president:

Not that Trump doesn't deserve to be nailed. He's his own worst enemy; one might argue credibly that he has brought the BS storm on himself.

But that's not an excuse for the media's self-satisfying, twisted practices. Only a few called their profession to task.

Read the whole thing!

It’s not going to happen soon and may not happen at all for some people, but eventually the peculiar form of mass psychosis that has gripped millions of Americans, the one we call Trump Derangement Syndrome or TDS, will be exposed for its insanity and detachment from reality. In order for that to take place, those enraptured in the madness must heed the voices of others whom they respect and reconsider their own foolishness.

It is not easy and never speedy, but reality eventually asserts itself. Most famously, Emile Zola called out the French establishment and his countrymen for the mass derangement that led to the railroading of Captain Alfred Dreyfus, a Jewish artillery officer who was convicted of treason and sent to Devil’s Island as the madness Jew hatred gripped his nation. Just as blind hatred caused the French to convict Dreyfus on the basis of no evidence, so President Trump is tried and convicted in the court of journalism of being a f*****t, a N**i, a w***e s*********t, and other left wing bugaboos, on the basis of no evidence or fabricated evidence, such as the false claim that he called the white power demonstrators in Charlottesville “fine people.”

Of course, a timely restoration of reality is not guaranteed. Sometimes madness leads to its own institutionalization, as when the Bolsheviks seized power in Russia and established a regime that lasted for decades, denying human nature and reality itself (see: Lysenkoism, for example).

So, journalists may not heed Byrne and the few others who call them out. Not quickly at least. But facts are stubborn things, as John Adams taught us, or as the Bard had it, “T***h will out.” Byrne may be a prophet without honor in his lifetime (he is in his 70s). But, as Patricia McCarthy reminds us today, the Democrats’ c**p attempt already is unraveling, and in the internet age, the speed of information is faster than ever before.

With John Durham empaneling a grand jury, we may soon have some stubborn facts that even the most deranged of Trump h**ers cannot ignore, and like Captain Dreyfus, President Trump will be vindicated not just in the eyes of historians in the distant future, but in the eyes of the vast majority his countrymen.

Great post NPP! Even an Iranian moved to another nation so he could compete on a level playing field with the Israelis in a sports competition. I can't remember what the sport was, but the best always want to compete with the best. The left has totally screwed up this country and that was prior to the arrival of President Trump. Trump is like abusing steroids to the left and gives them 'roid rage'. I didn't know that Durham had convened a grand jury or that Bibi had won his primary. I must be slowing down or slipping due to the holidays. Kidding, I was engrossed in a good book and couldn't put it down, a lifetime habit. Everything gets put on hold until I finish a good book.

My comments about the f**e media need an amendment. Dennis Byrne personifies the media that I recall from my youth. CONGRATULATIONS DENNIS.

The sad t***h is even though the left does in fact h**e President Trump, it is the American people who v**ed for, and support his policies that the left truly h**es. It is those Americans the left NEEDS to destroy. As President Trump pointed out, he just happens to be standing in the way.

I wouldn't feel too bad, the press died sometime in the '80s. Now we have some indie newsletters that are okay and a few (very few) newspapers.

The Book of Mysteries by Johnathan Cahn. I have read most of his books and always really enjoy them. He also wrote the Harbinger and Mystery of the Shemitah. I got to meet him once and it was a pure pleasure.
