Trump's holiday menu: handouts for billionaires, hunger for the poor

When it comes to billionaires benefiting from the generosity of the American taxpayer, the holiday spirit is alive year-round. Taxpayers paid out $115m to Donald Trump so he could play golf at his own resorts.

And Amazon didn’t just pay zero in federal taxes on $11bn in profits – taxpayers gifted the corporation $129,000,000 in rebates. That’s enough to pay for CEO Jeff Bezos’s three apartments in Manhattan, including a penthouse, that cost him $80m.

And what about government generosity for those who actually need help? Tax dollars are somehow much harder to come by when they’re not going to handouts for the rich. The average person in poverty, struggling to put food on the table, gets about $134 a month in nutrition assistance.

Now, just in time for the holidays, Trump has finalized the first of three policies that will make this disparity even more obscene. Two years after passing a $1.5tn tax giveaway to the wealthiest Americans and large corporations, the Trump administration plans to strip 3.7 million people of their nutrition benefits.

The administration’s first step is to kick 700,000 adults off of nutrition assistance as they struggle to find work. The second step: trying to punish families who have high childcare and housing costs. And third, they want to hurt families who already are making difficult choices between food or heat.

Together, the three proposals will cut billions of dollars from one of our nation’s leading anti-poverty programs. Meanwhile, the Republican tax s**m is working exactly as planned. Today, the richest 400 billionaires pay lower taxes than any group in America – including the poor. Nearly 100 of the top Fortune 500 companies now pay nothing in taxes.

This is what oligarchy looks like: Trump’s appetite to shower the ultra-wealthy with corporate welfare is endless – and so is his administration’s willingness to assault our nation’s most vulnerable and hungriest families.

Republicans defend this by saying that keeping people hungry will make them work harder. But we know this is just about cruelty. We know that withholding food from needy people who are underemployed only deepens the crisis of poverty in America

Here in America, we have the fattest "hungry" people I've ever seen. It's a shame all those "hungry" women can't afford regular clothes, and have to wear those yoga pants.
Why don't you get your mom a nice dress for Christmas Kev?

Kevyn: You know you should be blaming obama for all of these problems......He had a democrat controlled congress and failed to fix things.

I have to laugh, he barely got Obamacare thru; and tried to blame it on the Republicans!!!!

I forgot to add this:

Trump’s job approval rating 151 weeks into his presidency sits at 45 percent, as revealed by a Gallup poll last Wednesday. That puts Trump three points higher than the 42 percent approval rating Gallup found for Obama at the same point of his presidency.

Not to mention that hungry people lack the energy to work!

Yep, fill up on carbs with little in the way of vitamins or protein and one gains weight but does not have the necessary nutrients for healthy living.

Lying is your family trait.

If you're too lazy to support yourself, then you should be living in poverty.

Who's a big enough fool to believe giving poor people a lazy way of life, helps their future generations?

There is plenty of employment (in most areas) to benefit the working class.

If you're a lazy bastard, that's your problem.

It is always amazing that Democrats think it is sinfiul to allow working people to keep more of their own money but wonderful to pay abled body people for not working.

Funny how the wage gap is shrinking according to everything I've read. Your MSM is still lying and you're still believing, pitiful. You still haven't won a single battle against President Trump and you're quickly running out of crooked FBI and DOJ agents to protect your people. Your time is growing short. I sincerely hope you leave OPP after Trump wins again in 2020. It would only be fair unless you love being mocked as a Demwit. How does that song go? Jingle bells, shotgun shells, Cons laughing all the way! Your party is the one who throws out roadblocks to feeding the poor and kids selling lemonade in their driveways, not the GOP. You must like the Libs outsourcing our factories and jobs then inviting i******s and H1B visa overstays to increase and to take the remaining jobs from Americans. Your side can have Mike Lee and Mitt Romney. Everybody is being revealed for who and what they really are. That giant sucking sound you hear is the swamp being drained and you're starting to look like a nutria swamp rat.

I don't like it either Tom.

I, like you, have always worked like I mean it.

I never had an employee who could produce like I could.

When working for someone else, not many other employees could hang with my pace.

I can truly say that I believe that you've more than earned your way.

The poor and working people (in many cases the same) can't expect the rich to control their own greed.... that's not reality.

We are so far out of control, that people can't get together and boycott the rich.

If we believe the AOC is going to lead the poor in a revolution, and make things groovy.

We'll soon be the proverbial banana republic.

Rich people are the boss, whether we like it or not.

Most rich people donate to charities out of greed, instead of actual concern...'taxes' .......maybe just my opinion.

I watched the epitome of a stranglehold on working people, here in Lapine.

One of the old money handling families here conveyed to me that the stranglers kept it hard here, because it builds character.

I wanted to kick her in the shin.

I guess just some Schitt I wanted to relate with you.

So why don't you start your own company and become a CEO?
