Washington Examiner

Jon Brown

The evangelical magazine founded by the Rev. Billy Graham called President Trump's phone call to the Ukrainian president "profoundly immoral" and called for him to be removed from office.

Claiming they prefer "to stay above the fray and allow Christians with different political convictions to make their arguments in the public square," editor-in-chief Mark Galli asserted in a Thursday editorial that the moral turpitude of Trump requires the publication to support his removal.

Appealing to Graham's legacy of expressing political opinions in "conviction and love," Christianity Today wrote that while they "love and pray for our president," the case against Trump is "unambiguous."

"The president of the United States attempted to use his political power to coerce a foreign leader to harass and discredit one of the president’s political opponents," the publication said, referring to Trump requesting in a July 25 phone call that Ukraine investigate the alleged corruption of the Biden family. "That is not only a violation of the Constitution; more importantly, it is profoundly immoral," the magazine continued.

The article went on to slam Trump for having "dumbed down the idea of morality in his administration" and because "his Twitter feed alone — with its habitual string of mischaracterizations, lies, and slanders — is a near perfect example of a human being who is morally lost and confused."

Citing the president's achievements for people of faith, the magazine asserted that "none of the president’s positives can balance the moral and political danger we face under a leader of such grossly immoral character." Referencing their rebuke of President Bill Clinton in 1998 for "unsavory dealings and immoral acts," they claimed that "the words that we applied to Mr. Clinton 20 years ago apply almost perfectly to our current president."

Accusing them of hurting their witness for Jesus Christ, Christianity Today closed out its editorial by rebuking evangelicals who continue to support the president, writing, "Remember who you are and whom you serve." As a final warning, the magazine issued the ominous prediction that evangelical support of Trump "will crash down on the reputation of evangelical religion and on the world’s understanding of the gospel."

Christianity Today was founded in part by Graham in 1956 out of "a deep-felt desire to express historical Christianity to the present generation." Graham's son, Franklin Graham, has been a staunch supporter of the president and has claimed "a demonic power" is fueling the fury behind his impeachment. The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association did not immediately return the Washington Examiner's request for comment.

This reminds me of the Psychiatric or Psychological Association members who penned an open letter about Trump being unfit to serve.

And this too will pass. (We just don't know in which direction.)

Wh**ever the outcome, we will, I hope, be stronger for it.

Editor-in-chief Mark Galli should be fired if what I am reading is true and not "f**e news".
First, Trump's telephone conversation should have remained private.
It was taken completely out of context and lies replaced what he actually said.
Did you read the actual transcript?
He did nothing wrong, immoral, or illegal.

Here is an excerpt from Washington Examiner:
"The president of the United States attempted to use his political power to coerce a foreign leader to harass and discredit one of the president’s political opponents," the publication said, referring to Trump requesting in a July 25 phone call that Ukraine investigate the alleged corruption of the Biden family. "That is not only a violation of the Constitution; more importantly, it is profoundly immoral," the magazine continued.

This statement written at the Christian Magazine of Franklin Graham is 100% wrong. The assumption of harassment of a political opponent? This was grossly misstated and misunderstood. The 2016 investigation of Ukraine was a preparatory to US engaging in providing Ukraine financial and military aid.
There is a process on the background investigation is a protocol and essential in every type of engagement or t***saction that involves material consideration and or diplomatic relation with the US.

Those procedures are very important. It so happened that in 2016 Joe Biden Son who was involved in a dealing with the corrupt Burizma Holding which Biden interfered in the removal of an auditor auditing his son H****r at the Burizma Holding. All these came out because the US since 2017, has been under the president Trump who was finding out whether Ukraine whose prior leaders were corrupt, and the current ones are worthy of US aid. Any country that US support must undergo these step processes of background check to:
1. Ensure that Ukraine's leadership is honest and be in compliance with the agreement.
2. Ensure that Ukraine complies its aid to benefit the people, and to secure its national defense from other countries’ aggression.
3, Ensure that the integrity of the prior leadership are clean, and if not be held accountable for its actions..
4. Ensure that when the aid is provided, it is protected.

It so happened that in 2016 Biden was the VP and had been involved in the Ukraine leaderships who were corrupt. That was by coincidence but he was not the target of questions by president Trump.

It is the primary duty of the president to doing all these preliminary investigation before our money is given as aid to Ukraine. Failure to doing that is a dereliction of duty. The president did his duty as the Chief Executive and head of foreign diplomatic relation with other world leaders.

The Washington Examiner was wrong, and if Franklin Graham was wrongly informed about these protocol, then his assumptions could also be wrong.

Fact of the matter is president Trump is one of the best presidents since George Washington.95% of Christians support president Trump. And he is protecting all Christians from aggression of the left and the Muslims.

Slatten, the link does not matter. It is grossly wrong! The Examiner did not present the right information about president Trump.

Fact: The president did not examine or investigate the corrupt Joe Biden. He was part of the corrupt Ukraine officials during the 2016 administration dealings with Mr. Obama. Joe Biden was the VP. Prior years before 2017, there were rampant corruptions in Ukraine. That was why their president was replaced by Zelensky.

The president Trump as the Chief Executive of the US, has an obligation to oversee how our diplomatic relations with other countries are handled. Before giving aid to allied countries, there are protocols required to find out and investigate whether the leadership of that country is honest, compliant, and able to follow expectations of the US concerning the results and effects of the US aid. Standard requirements must be signed and followed ensuring that the the aid benefits them, as well as establishing a diplomatic relationship with the US. The relationship must mutually benefit Ukraine, and the US as well. We want world peace, and that is part of why US engages in mutual help to other countries to protect them from aggressive countries. in case of Ukraine, it was to stop Russia from further take over of their sovereignty.

The president did a good job doing that. And I don't take the news of Franklin Graham not liking the president at face value. I am sure he was feed with very wrong information. But if not, if he believes that the president Trump is not a good one, I will lose my confidence with him as a man of God. He must realize that the left do not believe mostly in Christianity. Fact is they insult God. They are the number one k**ler of babies born or unborn. They engage fraud, lies and deceptions. This will be brought to light soon when the results of Durham is released January. He is already calling for Brennan to answer various questions.

Radical Dems are Friends of PP who murdered 63 million babies since 1973.

Franklin must not engage in politics. He must just focus his work to God. But I am reserving my judgement until fully verified. Right now, I think he was feed with very wrong and ugly information by the MSM.

Slatten, please don't feed me with that Christian post. If that is the substance of their message that is the message of Satan as far as I am concerned because it presents LIES that are deceptive. There are no credibility of that paper. Feed by false information, and prints the very wrong message.

The credible one is the fact that the president has been doing great jobs for all the American people. That meeting and policies toward Ukraine were properly conducted. There must be relevant questions and agreement before any t***saction or diplomatic activity is provided. The mutual respect and compliance of expectations. Those are protocols and must be followed. The president did that, and he did an excellent jobs following international policies.
