The 6th Amendment of the Constitution, Speedy Trial Rights Clause, protects the defendant from delay between the presentation of the indictment or similar charging instrument and the beginning of trial. This applies to everyone, does not exclude the POTUS!!!

So Democrats rammed this through to v**e....let them cancel their holidays and let us get on with the trial. I hope there are hundreds of witnesses, mountains of documents, and a platoon of defense lawyers who can legally deny requests for Democrat selected witnesses and they met legal time restraints by seconds.

IMO, the swamp creatures are going to be further exposed if a Senate trial ensues.....and they’re d**gging their feet to avoid an inevitability. They may never take their articles to the Senate.

Biden, Biden’s son, Pelosi’s son, Schitt’s treason, Nadler’s treason, etc., etc., will be the focus that the Rats won’t want.

I urge the house of representatives to hold the line. trump was given ample opportunity for due process and refused it. Republicans were invited to the hearings and they refused to sit in. McConnel wants to make a joke out of the trial when the rules of impeachment are clear. WE all know what would happen if it was a Democrat in trumps place.

There is another reason, Democrats may want to delay this until after the e******ns, technically they can if they can get a "deal" with Senate Republicans or keep them busy with delay demands that the court (Chief Justice) must rule on. In this way House Democrats can campaign that they kept their promise, Senate Democrats can say they had no v**e... (the Pontus Piolet defense). And they may be praying that the impeachment will be enough to push those who are not part of the Trump base to v**e Democrat....this may work on those who do not look at job performance. In this case, if President Trump is not reelected, then the case will be shelved. The indictment stays, but no conviction. However (there is always a however), in the case of Johnson the impeachment was purged from record five years after he left office.

All Trump wants to do is to be able to run around and claim he was exonerated. Nancy put a tattoo of a looser on his forehead and he needs all this to be over before the ink becomes permanent. As for Lindsey, just listen to how he is talking now compared to when Trump first started his run for president. He called Trump a Jackass and a race-baiting xenophobic bigot. He said he doesn't represent his (Grahams) values or the values of the Republican party.

When you talk about people who have drunk the cool-aid Lindsey not only drank it he made 100 gallons more and drank it all himself.

What all our billionaires now running for president need to do it make ads with what McConnell has said about the impeachment and how he is working with Trump to cover this up instead of having a legitimate trial to find out what actually happened in Ukraine...

Speedy Trial Rights??? McConnell is working with Trump. Since when does a prosecutor from the States side work with a defendant to bury all evidence as fast as they can?

This is anything but a trial so I am pretty sure all the legalities have gone out the door. Trump wants this buried as fast as he can because he wants to run around screaming how he was exonerated. The longer Nancy can delay this and fight for an honest trial the better it is for any democrat running against Trump in the end. What would be perfect is if McConnell was forced to call some actual witnesses--Brennen would probably be enough as his testimony alone would sink Trump--either with impeachment or all the undecideds realizing what a POS Trump really is.

McConnell has frequent visits to the White House and for good reason, he is the Majority Leader for the Senate. His "job" during an impeachment is NOT a prosecutor for the House. Indeed, the House formally notifies the upper chamber that it has appointed managers who would lay out the case for removal. Mitch will simply be part of the 2/3 v**e that will acquit the POTUS!

Nancy has NEVER fought for a fair trial....the House held a Kangaroo court that had only one purpose...to nail the POTUS to a tree.

The house and senate are off until January, it's the way it is, the constitution doesn't say a word about a speedy impeachment trial. This will be wrangled between trump, McConnell, Schumer, and Mistress Pelosi... McConnell catching heat from all four, trump will be tweeting away undercutting McConnell and putting the GOP in a horribly untenable position. Trump is going to say let's call Biden, Schumer is going to say okay, McConnell is going to refuse, and the american public is going to ask why not.

It will be a very interesting month, and even if McConnell shuts things down it will be to dems favor in regards to public opinion.

And the whole time...trump will be going unhinged bonkers, I suspect the GOP will be fed up with defending his dumb...

Oh come now Pennylynn, Barr could have set up a special counsel to do the investigation--as we did with Nixon and Clinton--which would have bypassed the need for the House to do the investigation. He didn't though, so because Barr punted it was up to the house to the House to do what Barr failed to do.

And you should know that it's not the job of the House to hold a trial but that falls to the Senate. It's the job of the House to impeach or not impeach based on the findings of the special counsel. I would say Nancy did a bang-up job given that Barr failed to execute his responsibility thereby leaving it to the house to investigate the mess that is the Donald J Trump administration.

And I am sure you cons are unhappy but Barr could have buried it as he did with the Mueller Report. Don't blame Nancy and the Democrats because Barr screwed up and didn't set up a special counsel. I don't know if he screwed up or did it intentionally but because Barr didn't do his job it was left to Nancy to do it for him! If you don't like the results don't blame the democrats for making the play that Barr left for them...

He is the jury and sets the procedures for this, and since when was it ever acceptable for a jury to ever work with the defendant? He openly said he is going to take instructions from the president.

He will be in violation of the oath he takes in regard to being an impartial witness to the proceedings, and it is ludicrous.

Barr thought he ended it when he told the IC IG and acting intel director to sit on it, there was nothing there. The IC IG going straight to the house and senate intel committees was the thing that blew the lid off of that, he is the one that needs to testify about Barr telling him there were no crimes to be looked into.
