IIRC, the Mayor of Washington DC, Marion Barry, was the mayor. Got busted for using crack cocaine, served time (6 months?). After that, he was again elected mayor. This was in the late 80's, I believe.
Keep in mind the citizens of DC are 90% democrats.....

I remember that. Mind boggling is all I can say.
But even more mind boggling is the impeached federal judge who is then elected to be the district's representative in Congress.
