Is saying "Happy holidays" graciously recognizing Hanukkah as well or is it an attack on Christmas?

When you're used to privilege, e******y feels like oppression. Christianity has been overwhelmingly and consistently favored in this country for over 200 years. A plurality exists in America today--deal with it! Or let Trump block immigrants from the Land of Immigrants, make America white again...and Christian! Might not be bad. Who knows?

But maybe when we can take it that the beginning of the 1st Amendment--"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof..."--had only to do do with Christianity. Many of those fleeing from Europe were looking to escape being forced to live a faith they did not believe, imposed upon them by the rulers of their nations. And the "free exercise thereof" really only referred to giving Christian sects the liberty to openly practice their particular system of belief: It was not meant to include other religions like Islam, Buddhism, etc.

This is what you must believe when you take "Seasons greetings" or "Happy holidays" as an act of war. This is what Fox News has done and usually do: create something to divide the country and a reason to h**e. That is sheer political chicanery, of no substance.

Sensitivity and inclusivity for the marginalized, disenfranchised, and minorities: that is the true nature of Political Correctness. You object? What many find wrong with PC is not the stifling of free speech but of bigotry. Here are a few reasons: they feel their "dog-whistles" were being stolen; superiority suppression; made them think more than they wanted or could; elevated or recognized the marginalized, disenfranchised, and minorities as worthy of respect and kind consideration; shamed some to rage; and I am sure there is more.

I'll say Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Seasons Greetings, or anything else I feel like...

If a message like that offends someone, they can crawl back into their Proghole and wait for the New Year...

PC is ridiculous...

IMO, given when it is said, the greeting graciously includes Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, Kawanzaa, Christmas & New Year's Day. When I mean to highlight a particular holiday, I specify it. Otherwise, 'Happy Holidays' is all-inclusive of late Fall & early Winter. I'd say the same for the phrase 'Season's Greetings.'

MERRY CHRISTMAS, y'all

PC is utter nonsense and a means to control speech not politeness or anything else.

Well stated

It's sad when we can't express goodwill for fear of offending someone...

'Proghole'?

Isn't it also PC to get offended when Happy Holidays is interpreted as a war on Christmas?

Lol

I was told off the other day for sending a merry Christmas message out on social media... Still a little prickly over it...

Yes... Absolutely

People should be able to say what they want...

Not be subjected to ridicule or censorship for the terms THEY choose...

I regularly wish my Muslim friends a merry Christmas... And they respond in kind... When Ramadan comes around I greet them with Ramadan Mubarak.... It's really easy...

But when someone tells me that I shouldn't say "merry Christmas" because it might offend someone.....That's when they get sentenced to the proghole

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, God bless and may your every day be filled with health, joy, and the company of those you love...

Your friend, Kyle

Fortunately, I have no Muslim friends. They h**e Christians and would see us all dead. They are told they cannot be friends with anyone not Muslim. By all means,
say Merry Christmas to all Christians and Happy Hanakkuh to all your Jewish friends.
Obama is no longer President so Happy Winter Holiday is fini.

How about if you say it to combat PC? No matter. The people usually offended are Christians, the rest are grateful for the inclusion.

Lol oh lol, control of speech is somehow wrong? Read the Bible. Christians have no freedom of speech.

I've only encountered one Muslim who believes it was right to h**e Christians... He joined ISIS and led a suicide attack...

The rest regard us as brothers...

Muslims are not told they can't be friends with non-muslims.... That is nonsense...
