What would happen next November if 30, 40 or 50 Democrats in close or swing districts v**e against impeachment next week? Democrats could run on the idea that they followed their constitutionally mandated duties and came out with a just result. Claim that Republicans tried to block their constitutionally mandated duty. Democrats could claim the high road. Placate their extremists while protecting their most vulnerable.
