Since President Trump, at a recent Florida rally decided to let everyone know that liberals want to change the name of Thanksgiving, I thought it was time to come clean and let everyone know what liberals want to change all the holiday names to and what the greeting should be, starting with the latest one.....

'Thanksgiving.' They think you should say “Happy Thanksgiving,” get together with family over a nice meal with a big roasted Turkey and talk about all the things you're thankful for. They think that if so inclined, you should bow your heads and say a prayer of Thanksgiving in appreciation for all the good things in your life.

'Christmas' They think you should say “Merry Christmas” to people when you specifically mean to wish them a Merry Christmas, but they say you shouldn't be rude to people who don't celebrate Christmas and if you know for example that they celebrate Hanukkah, you might want to say ‘Happy Hanukkah,” or maybe a more inclusive “Happy Holidays.” They think that last is especially useful when you're trying to include the whole season, like Christmas and New Years together. Liberals also think there is nothing wrong with saying “Merry Christmas” to anyone as long as you're doing it from the heart to share the joy of the day, not to make some weird political point about not saying Happy Holidays to someone you know for sure doesn't celebrate your favorite holiday.

They think you should (after Thanksgiving, please) decorate your house with red and green decorations, lights and garland, bring in a tree and light it up and decorate it with balls and add a bunch of decorations having to do with Santa Claus, reindeer, especially the red nosed one called Rudolph, elves, snow and sleighs. Furthermore, they think if you're so inclined, you should add decorations that are related to the birth of Jesus Christ, such as a manger, a star, three wise men, barn animals, shepherds, angels, and statues of Joseph, Mary and Baby Jesus. They do ask that out of respect for the establishment clause of the First Amendment to the Constitution of the United States of America, that in the United States, you keep this last category of decorations off public property.

They think on the day you should give your family and close friends wrapped presents that you put a lot of thought into so that you can share the joy of the holiday with them.

They think if you're so inclined that you should dress nicely and go to the church of your choice and celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. They think you shouldn't be rude to people who don't feel so inclined and only want to celebrate the secular parts of Christmas like sharing joy, giving presents and singing Mel Torme's 'The Christmas Song' in their best Nat King Cole voice.

I'd go to the rest of the holidays but you get my point.

This “war on Christmas which is now a war on Thanksgiving” is completely made up by the right-wing snowflake victims squad and it plays well at political rallies. But, there isn't an ounce of t***h to it.

You should really stop letting liars lie to you just to rile you up.

Bad for the blood pressure.

BTW, to all my fellow Americans---liberal & conservative..."Merry Christmas, Y'all "

Carol, I'm over seventy years old. I remember from the 50's, many proclaiming 'Happy Holidays' during the time of year (not long after Halloween) that included Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years. Still, I say and wish everyone a 'Merry Christmas' when speaking of December 25th...yet, proclaim 'Happy Holidays' for that time of every year.

People then said Happy Holidays because they chose to and not because they were forced to. They were not forbidden, as many are now, from saying "Merry Christmas"

L-T, my post was directed at Carol Kelley's implying that former President Obama started the proclamation of "Happy Holidays" during his administration. Proclaiming "Happy Holidays" had been preeminent long before our lifetimes.

From Wikipedia...

"Happy Holiday" was introduced by Bing Crosby and Marjorie Reynolds (dubbed by Martha Mears) in the 1942 film Holiday Inn in a scene when the Inn opens for the first time. While it is commonly regarded as a Christmas song, in the film it is performed on New Year's Eve, and expresses a wish for the listener to enjoy "happy holidays" throughout the entire year.

Jo Stafford was the first to release it on a Christmas album, on her album of the same name in 1955. The Kay Thompson song "The Holiday Season" is sometimes paired with "Happy Holiday" as a medley. This was first popularized by Andy Williams (who Thompson herself discovered and mentored). Other artists who have covered the "Happy Holiday"/"Holiday Season" medley include The Manhattan T***sfer, She & Him, and Michael W. Smith.
