There is a scene in "Patriot" where the Congress decides to declare war on Great Briton and the crowd cheers. That is madness to me.
For me, such enthusiasm is horrid and despicable, but it plays well in theaters to our seeming blood-lust for revenge. How many successful major movies play on this theme, to name a prime example is "Death Wish." (I, II and so on.) But for most, it appears, that is the proper attitude. Disagree and you are wimp, Liberal bleeding heart, or a coward. Yet the proper attitude by the rule of Christ, to me, is not a cheer but a collective moan. Great sadness should attend, be felt by, any Christian, or decent human being, at such a debased choice.
Then accuse Jesus of that!
Matthew5:43-45: “You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor[a] and h**e your enemy.’ 44 But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 that you may be children of your Father in heaven." A requirement to love our enemy IN ORDER TO BE a child of our father in heaven. Find the loophole, give your excuses to h**e terrorists and those groups from South America.
However, there is a time under the sun when such conflicts will arise. With grievous hearts and not patriotic fervor, looking to be as humane as possible, we fight, wounded by any death of our present enemy.
"46 If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? 47 And if you greet only your own people, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that?" Let that sink in and not make excuses it says other than it says.
To end the verses is to realize the full potential to be one in Christ: "48 Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect." How? The only way Christ suggested: Through the humanly impossible feat of loving our enemy. We need him.

Decent movie by a great actor
OK guys...I'll watch it. Sorry Rumi but I'm not too keen on the Brits at the moment. I probably wouldn't have decided to watch it if you hadn't brought it up. Mel Gibson owes you thanks!
The trailer had me misty...this isn't a good sign...

BigM, it's one of my favorites. The only people that would object are those that would be content to live under an oppressive rule.

show quote)
I not only love my enemies, I pray for them. I have learned many positive things about them once I forgive.

They may title it "Patriot", but the way they denegated President Trump it should be called "Degenerate."
