On Tuesday, April 2 during an interview with Politico Playbook, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi
indicated that there would not be a v**e in Congress for the United States-Mexico-Canada
Agreement (USMCA) until after the Mexican Congress passes its own domestic labor reform legislation.
“Unless you do this, we can’t even consider it.... We have to see that [Mexico passes]
the legislation, that they have the factors in place that will make sure it’s implemented
and they demonstrate some commitments in sincerity, because it’s a big issue how workers
are treated in Mexico,” Pelosi said.

It is written into trumps agreement.

Pelosi is demanding that Mexico "Implement" the conditions of the treaty, Before it will be signed.
That has never been done before!

How does she personally gain from this? Do the Mexicans need to publicly announce an investigation of the i***t Pumpkinfuhrer for something he didn’t even do? The agreement sucks, it has no enforceable protections for labor leaving working families on both sides of the border open for exploitation. She is doing exactly what she should, protecting American workers. Far better to let it wither on the vine and have the Sanders or Warren administration negotiate a decent agreement in 2021.

Labor[edit]
USMCA Annex 23-A requires Mexico to pass legislation that improves the collective bargaining capabilities of labor unions.[25] The specific standards Mexico is required to comply with are detailed in the International Labour Organization's Convention 98 on freedom of association and collective bargaining. The administration of Mexico's President, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, introduced legislation in late 2018 which pursues compliance with these international standards.
Other labor related measures include a minimum wage requirement in the automotive industry. Specifically, 40 to 45 percent of the automobiles manufactured in North America must be made in a factory that pays a minimum of $16 per hour.[24] This measure will be phased in during the first five years after USMCA ratification.

Pelosi is still putting the interests of Mexican workers ahead of the interests of America's Farmers.
America's Farmers are neither dazzled by brilliance nor baffled by BS.

Ridiculous bullsht! Let me pull a Schiff:
“Unless you do this, we can’t even consider it....
because no matter what we are going to lose our asses in the upcoming e******n and anything we can do to stymie Trump and his lousy supporters we'll do....including screw you peasants with no lube, so... We have to see that [Mexico passes]
the legislation,...
which will take a year or so if we're lucky, that they have the factors in place that will make sure it’s implemented...
which will never happen and since maintaining the status quo is what we really want, that suits us just fine...and they demonstrate some commitments in sincerity, because...
and I mean MONEY given back to Democrats or this orange bastard will sink our gravy galleon! it’s a big issue how workers are treated in Mexico,”
We don't give a damn if any of this benefits workers in Mexico.

If the Mexicans get paid better, it takes away the incentive to send jobs there. As for farmers, get rid of the silly tariffs

Yes, this
does sound like a quid pro quo of sorts, doesn't it?

She also told some Democrats whose states would benefit from the agreement she would not bring it up for a v**e until she knew how they stood impeachment. You know quid pro quo.

Oooooh! That's like a triple-dip quid pro quo.

I think I read that they want certain protections for the workers. Is it just me or is that bs for resist, resist, resist?

Pelosi better enjoy herself, because her hostage taking days will be over after 3 November 2020. Then she can real what she's sown.
