Then your God is not the God who wrote the Bible, nor is your God my God.

The Bible is not a science book, per se, but what it touches upon subjects we would now classify as science, it speaks the t***h.

A former military man of scientific discovery and endeavor named Chuck Missler, who became a minister of the gospel, has a seven-part series on Genesis One (1st chapter of Genesis) that could greatly enlighten you. It is listed on YouTube.

There is one true triune God of Creation, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the author of the Bible.

There are millions of Idols, little "g" gods whom people adulate as their "higher power."

Those eastern religions that teach each of us has the spark of divinity within us, and therefore, have no need of another savior are promoting literally billions of little "g" gods, in the process of either waxing or waning.

Addendum:

The difference between "waxing" and "waning" is the same as between "increasing" and "decreasing.". When something is waxing, it is getting closer to its maximum property. When something is waning, it is decreasing, or getting closer to its minimum property.

I should point out that I was raised in the Church of Christ in Texas; Bible based. Very conservative. Very well studied inthe subject as well. Went to a Christian University. So, I'm kind of joshing you a bit, but not totally.

And waxing is something you do to a car or floor. Waning is what the democrat snowflakes do when they encounter something which disagrees with their set of beliefs. They need to stop waning. (Pun)

The name of your church is so obviously what every Christian church should be called.
So the founder of your denomination was Stone, not Campbell, or a merger of both?

Was your singing a-cappella?

I was unaware that the democrats had any beliefs, other than "win at all cost."

Actually, it would be a good thing if the current Democrat party would wane away to nothing, with the current Republican party right behind them.

Let's have a fresh start, but unless A******n, Infanticide, Euthanasia, and Homosexual marriage are outlawed first, it will mean nothing.

Otherwise, our current culture of death cannot return to a culture of Abundant Life.

I'm not democrat.

And yes, four part harmony, no instruments, great singing. All Biblical to a fault. No miracles, speaking in tongues, Baptism for forgiveness of sins, complete immersion, Elders, Deacons, song leaders, Bible study, Bible credit in high school, communion weekly, worship on Sunday, Wednesday night services, the works. It was a good up bringing. But I will admit to never being able to take much of it literally: 7 day creation, magic, miracles, healing, etc. So many things would have to be true if it was all taken literally which I just don't think ever happened, but who really knows.

I would be good with a fresh start but this party politics is embedded in us; I don't know why. Political tribalism. Weird. And you might be right about outlawing some of that. Simply accepting homosexuality has brought us so much extremism and strange stuff like g****r confusion and immorality on a huge scale. look at how many thousands of porn websites there are; 10's of thousands. Amazing.

What to do.

At times it does appear so...

Unfortunately I find that it is not so much the Bible as how the Bible is interpreted...

And God no doubt spends an inordinate amount if time just shaking His head at us....

"What to do as a nation?"

Knees, sackcloth, ashes! Repent.

I have never looked at a porn site, but I know the U.S. produces most of the world's porn that is then exported out, all over the world.

Our nation is exporting filth, rather than fulfilling the great commission by exporting the Good News., i.e., the gospel.

I'm neither Democrat or Republican, as the Republicans are now more godly in name only, but I am right wing conservative on 99% of issues.

My God is the God of miracles, the Creator of the universe. The little "g" god you describe is a lesser god, an idol.

You had a beautiful childhood, but the one true God does not perform "magic," that is a set of parlor tricks Satan and his emissaries perform as they attempt to imitate God's miracles.

In II Chronicles 5:12-13, there is an amazing description of the response when the singers and musicians praised God in song (there were over 120 priests playing trumpet alone), they all played “as one, to make one sound.” This means the musicians played with instruments, together in harmony. The result was uplifting due to the unison and harmony.

2 Chronicles 5:12-13 "All the Levites who were musicians —Asaph, Heman, Jeduthun and their sons and relatives—stood on the east side of the altar, dressed in fine linen and playing cymbals, harps and lyres."

As for creation, you ask "who really knows what happened?", - I believe God.

You, like everyone one else, get hung up on the CofC no instruments thing. But I can tell you, their acapella singing is awesome. Much better than I've heard or seen anywhere else, and, the congregation participates much more so than just listening to others. It's also more instructive as well.

But no matter.

I'm not at all hung up, nwtk, I wrote in response to your assertion that it was "all biblical to a fault."

I had no intention to offend you, - but perhaps, to rile you a bit.

I agree that well tuned acapella singing is beautiful.

I believe in lesser matters, God gives us choices.

I believe what He had written down as Holy Scripture is true.

Not offended. No worries at all.
