If those wealthy people in the world would tithe just 10% of their money, it would end world hunger, poverty, and other misery

Maybe that suggestion smacks somewhat of c*******m. Yet I think that it is absurd this is not a just and simple standard of humanity. 10% would be a trifle, with money left over and far more to build a 25,400-square-foot mansion in Colorado with a 100 car museum and mostly empty rooms. "Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God." (Matthew19:24)

It seems we have yet to realize--evolve, become aware, accept, and welcome--our basic duty, personal and as a nation, to help the less fortunate. That is almost bats*** crazy. I feel every government on Earth is obligated to help "the least of these," or it is not one of justice and decency. If we make enough that our tax money can help pay for that aid, we should rejoice and thank God. And maybe do more, ask for a bigger tax, but I am getting carried away.

All the social assistance programs (which is not Socialism, BTW, that is a whole different kettle of fish; it is a welfare state, the most successful and fair form of government) I feel are equal on the agenda of importance to national defense. It is national defense in its own way. Helping them keeps America economically strong and at peace.

no, it would not
throwing money at a problem won't solve the reason it exists.

Exactly. Give a man a fish and he eats for a day. Teach him to fish, we have depleted fishing grounds and a new 1% to deal with!!

True, very true, but it can relieve the suffering. Which might eventually solve the reason.

We’ve thrown $billions, for decades, into depressed areas in this country. What has happened? Conditions are worsening by the day and liberals are getting richer by the hour.

What do you suppose is causing the problem?

So, you want to promulgate your solution around the world(?) And, on the backs of U.S. taxpayers(?)

How about this: you take your money, and your entire household, to a small village in Uganda. Then, report back to us regarding how long it takes for them to love you.

My bet is that, when the money runs out, your headless body would never be found.

Hmmmm.... my "headless body would never be found": what? We have thrown billions and it has improved the lives of millions of families. Children eat instead of starve. Elderly people are not out on the street. The disabled get care and attention. Conditions improved with health, financial, and life saving results. Oh, but my-oh-my there is a Welfare Queen. Let's shut it all down. Let's let the poor, children, the elderly, and disabled suffer and die.

Your last paragraph sums up the whole post. America is the most giving nation in the world and some people and countries still h**e us. This is not a problem that can be solved with money. It has to be from the heart with grace. A Welfare State is a Socialist State.

money is not a substitute for work.
Spending it is so popular with Liberals ,because it takes no real effort .
No effort ,no results .
Of course charitable giving is good . Common sense applied. always .

Another thing to ponder is that if immigrants were vetted our crime rate would be reduced and welfare would be reduced. This would attract working immigrants to the country.
Our motto should be "Become educated, work hard, support our heritage and love others"

I agree, well put. I was not really trying to say that money is THE solution...but for now it helps!
