We just don't conflate that with being God...

I'm not sure what point you're trying to make here...

Jesus is the Son of God...Agreed...

(I have not finished reading over Tommy's responses... it takes a while to absorb it all and check verses I am not intimate with... So there is the possibility that I have missed the point due to this... Apologies if that is the case...)
How could you possibly have any idea of the point ... (show quote)

Your post made it appear that you were replying to a single part of Tommy's thread... Indeed, you implied just that...

As such I responded to what you had written...

In added the qualifier because I don't believe I'm infallible... If there was more to your reply...And I missed it in my hsste...iI apologize...

I am finding this post of Tommy's somewhat more difficult to follow... And am taking it slow... I think he'd want me to be thorough...

If my response to you was in error, please point it out... Thanks

I appreciate each of you that have posted here very much. Thank you!

It appears that there is agreement on a few things here:

1) God the Father most certainly exists! He is absolutely the first entity.

2) Jesus is the Son of God, and is a human with a mission and powers from God, which I have believed for a long time. He is the second entity here. As I recall it, Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit, and among other things He ends up at the right hand of God.

What appears to be controversial to me is the correct view of the Holy Spirit, which is the third entity here of major interest. There may be a number of interpretations of the Holy Spirit as being God Himself in Spirit, or a spiritual extension of God, or a separate spiritual entity that is infused with the Spirit of God and works for and with God that is named the Holy Spirit, or what have you? In any interpretation the Holy Spirit is due full respect.

In any event, I do agree with the suggestion that I seek guidance from God. I regularly hear a very weak voice that guides me and it is very reliable. I must frame the question and ask it a bit later.
====================================== br I apprec... (show quote)

That is a very accurate summation

And I agree concerning the Holy Spirit... Personally I have given too little thought to the topic...

Listen to that voice...

And I look forward to the question...

I strongly suggest that you put some thought into this as well... An open mind and the thirst to know God will never lead you wrong...

Seems to me that some individuals are willing to put the effort into challenging their beliefs...

The only outcome of such an endeavor will be the strengthening of their relationship with God....Amen

This is your mistake - thinking that no one’s ever put as much thought in their beliefs. Parky has his armor on- all of it. The Tommys, Joel Osteens, Benny Hinns, etc do not. Thats the difference.

And you’re quite wrong. There is a worldly thirst and a thirst that is of the Spirit. The former leaves one susceptible to false teaching. The OP is quite ridiculous in thinking Christian interpretation of Philippians is wrong.

Again I would caution you to not listen to Tommy if you are new to this.

Be very careful which voice you listen to. Satan doesn’t want the word to take root - he wants to snatch it away. He is subtle and “disguises himself as an angel of light” 1 Cor 11:14. He wants us to think he is good. This is how so many are easily deceived.

Ask yourself why mature Christians and Christian scholars all somehow missed what Tommy has ‘discovered’? The reason his posts are meandering and hard to follow is because they’re deceiving.

They did.

Millions of us have read their words and understand that they did.

Your refusal to see in no way negates that truth.

And thats it in a nutshell.

Apologies... I like it when folk can defend their beliefs logically and with support...

Armor is fine... List the visor now and then and make sure you know what you're swinging at...

So show me how he has misinterpreted the passage... Shouldn't be hard...

Personally I don't think Tommy has discovered anything new.... He has continued the work of many.. And has had his battles on the way...

I have yet to read a post of his that is "meandering"...Or "hard to follow"... Although they do require some pretty hard thinking at times...

And shame on you for comparing him to Satan... In any context...

Without even attempting to show where he has misrepresented the word of God...

Shouting "he's wrong he's wrong" doesn't make much of a case for your side....

Its been shown numerous times where and why he’s wrong. The onus is on you to either accept the truth or not. You can’t read the bible like just another book or much will remain hidden.

Tommy’s posts - like the writings of Joel Osteen and many other false teachers - are a good study in how Satan can deceive. Thats why they are spiritually dead - and believers easily see it.

You can applaud his posts all you want. That doesn’t prop up a mistaken belief. You continually ask for the same thing over and over when its already been posted.

The irony is they have. If you treat the bible like just another book truth will be hidden. The verses whose meaning he fails to debunk are clear except to you and Tommy. His made up theology is not.

Just as the meaning of John 1 is clear.

Again you mock the word. Why? Or do you not know what the armor of God is or its importance?

Thank you for your concern, Rose, I appreciate it. I have been following my own path for several years now, and for this thread, I am simply trying to find the root cause of anti-trinitarianism, but with the obvious hinderance of taking a hiatus of 40 or 50 years from religion, and not remembering every single book of the Bible after Genesis, Exodus and the first three books of the NT, plus delving a bit into Revelations, and a few others, such as Acts and Deuteronomy. Oh, and I recently read Paul's letters. But I am making progress!

Home base for me is Episcopalian, it is where I was raised, and the Trinity is very important to me.

I have to read on the PC, since my Bibles are all very fine print, and my new glasses are not up to it. Sigh!

Have a nice day!

The root cause of denying the trinity is Satan. He is the root cause of all false doctrine.

I can identify with failing eyesight. I now have to read more from my ipad. I need to get a large print bible.

You have a nice day as well!

The idea of a large print bible compelled me to order one. What a watershed in life to be resigned to a large print world! But thank you for the suggestion, Rose!

Yesterday, Saturday, I received my Super Large Print
Bible, and I must have put in five or six hours reading it since then. This has reinforced my faith in that which I was taught many years ago, and more recently, too; the stories and admonitions were all there as before. It has been a sterling experience! Both creeds, the Nicene and Apostle's sing to me again!
