The Fall of the Berlin Wall, Nov. 1989. A very historic moment which culminated the end of the Cold War.
It was fascinating and nostalgic when Germany was separated into two countries, the East and West Germany since WW2.
One of the greatest accomplishments of president Reagan was uniting Germany into one, where freedom of the people was restored. There was joyous reunification of the population.
President Reagan stood at the podium near the Berlin Wall and announced, "Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall." This was in June, 1987, and two years later, the walls fell and the Cold War ended in Dec.3, 1989.
Much kudos are attributed to president Reagan, PM Gorbachev, and Pope John Paul II. The historical Cold War ended.
PM Gorbachev became the friend of president Reagan. He invited Gorbachev and his wife to the WH. Pm Gorbachev loved classical music.
When president Reagan died in 2004, while alive, he requested that the beautiful music of "Ave Maria" be played during his funeral. President Reagan and Pope John Paul II became close friends.
Here's my prayer for them.
Eternal rest in peace grant unto President Reagan, and Pope St. Paul II, oh, Lord, and let your perpetual light shine upon them. Amen.
Pope John Paul II, is now a saint.
