Ya know, you're right! I can see that providing anti-Tank weapons to Ukraine to help fight off Russian tanks invading their country could cause us to later need to speak Russian. Some how??

I think you are confusing the lethal aid with high tech weapons. The EU and Obama were concerned that if you sell high tech weapon systems to unreliable forces you are handing secrets to an enemy. The next time you go against them, they will have countermeasures to render your weapon system ineffective.
I seriously doubt that Trump made that calculation. The generals would have pointed that out to him, had he asked.
