What do you guys think?? They risk their lives just as much as their human counterparts. I think they too deserve to be honored with Purple Heart!! That includes not only military K-9,also SHOULD include Police K-9!!!!!!!

They are trained to do specific tasks and do them well but have no idea they are risking or sacrificing their lives and certainly do not do it voluntarily. I feel this diminishes the honor of the medal that service members who with knowledge of the risk are wounded or k**led in action in service to our nation.

As much as I respect these noble animals and think they deserve to be honored, they are not humans...

We need to stop treating animals like humans...

Dogs don’t care about awards. I’m not in favor of giving a dog a purple heart. They aren’t humans and to treat them as such demeans what they are

I agree. Contrary to what K. thinks, they do know they have a job to do and are glad to do it.

Some do and some don’t, I would think the dog handlers are all for it as will be the brass who see it as good PR.

If going into harms way, I would much rather be accompanied by one K-9 member,

than by a dozen kevyns.
