So, what is "dirt" on a political opponent??

When I think of trying to get dirt on someone, it's usually in the form of something non-criminal or something that makes them look bad; extramarital affairs, sexual escapades, past behaviors like f**g burning or other unpatriotic behaviors or inappropriate behaviors which sometimes date back as much as 20 - 30 years, in fact.

The never-Trumps keep saying Trump was asking and trying to force Ukraine to provide "dirt" on a political opponent. But based upon what I can tell, he's trying to uncover illegal activity, not "dirt."

It just seems to me that any democratic efforts to get "dirt" on Trump from a foreign power and otherwise trying to effect and interfere with out e******ns is criminal as is what H****r B***n is involved in with Burisma and Joe's efforts to stop the Ukraine government from investigating. (Ironic, isn't it?) More than just dirt, these are criminal activities, at the very least. As president, Trump's encouragement for Ukraine's new president to investigate and stop this sort of corruption is just exactly what is needed to occur since, obviously, our own FBI and CIA are not going to try to get the t***h out!

As for the illicit quid pro quo, what's the problem? Ukraine is getting a lot of help from us other than military help, something Joe Biden obviously understood and leveraged against the former Ukraine gov. I guess that's OK but Trump trying to leverage them into uncovering corruption isn't??

I, personally, don't think there is a chance in hell that Trump could be removed from office over this, mainly because he is trying to get Ukraine to look into CRIMINAL behaviors, not just trying to get "dirt" on a political opponent.

Dirt is dirt but most of the time, not criminal. If the dem's don't want Trump to dig into the 2016 e******n tampering, they shouldn't have tried to "tamper." If Joe Biden doesn't want us to try to find out about his son's business with Burisma, he shouldn't have gone around bragging about how he extorted the Ukraine gov to stop investigating it.

The reality is that most have no clue how international relations and gaining cooperation work. Most is done behind the scenes and through the granting of favors. Face the facts. It goes on everyday with every nation.

Very true. And being a political opponent does not shield them from being investigated for a crime.
