Here are the 10 best responses to the Washington Post’s al-Baghdadi obit
The hashtag #WaPoDeathNotices trended on Twitter late this weekend as people ridiculed The Washington Post for their headline when covering the death of the ISiS leader: “Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, austere religious scholar at helm of Islamic State, dies at 48."
Shortly after, the Post changed the headline to “Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, extremist leader of Islamic State, dies at 48,” but the mocking had already begun:
"Heinrich Himmler, passionate chicken farmer, dies unexpectedly at 44" – John Schindler
"Adolf Hitler, dedicated art enthusiast, animal rights activist, and talented orator, dies at 56" – Lauren Chen
"Jeffrey Dahmer, connoisseur of exotic and locally sourced meats, dies at 34" – Donald Trump, Jr.
"Darth Vader, disabled single father of two, passes away" – Christopher Jacobs
"John Wilkes Booth, actor and parkour enthusiast dies at 26"
Although this particular headline drew the most controversy, the Washington Post ran quite a few stories about al-Baghdadi's death, all with the same theme ...
In creating spectacle around Baghdadi’s death, Trump departs from Obama’s more measured tone on bin Laden
Opinion: Three ways the Baghdadi raid undermines Trump’s chaotic policy
Despite Baghdadi raid, some analysts question U.S. ability to prevent ISIS resurgence
Opinion: The U.S. k**ls an ISIS leader. But Trump is giving the group a new lease on life.
