Trump Calls The Constitution's Emolument Clases "Phony"...They Are Super Easy To Understand

Trump has apparently not read them, they are super easy to understand, in fact I'll bet the majority of the people on this site including conservatives can understand the black and white nature of how they are written...

Article 1, Section 9, Clause 8: "No person holding any office of profit or trust under them shall, without the consent of the Congress, accept of any present, emolument, or title, of any kind wh**ever, from any king, prince, or foreign state." This couples with an Article II restriction barring the president from receiving "any other emolument" other than a fixed salary from federal or state governments.

Foreign governments cannot funnel any money through Trump owned properties, that is easy to understand. Foreign emissaries cannot pay $200k a pop for all of their diplomats in a delegation to Mar A Lago for club memberships. Where would the line be between one for leader and 20 at $4 million to curry favor? Who watches whether Trump is charging them standard room rates or greatly inflated ones because they don't care? What about the Saudi prince paying for a whole floor of empty rooms in a Trump hotel that he doesn't even use?

Trump has been breaking the emoluments clause from day one, uses Mar A Lago for official state business, yet refuses to disclose guest of membership information as would be required for official state business venues.

Trump saw the word "Constitution" on a wall somewhere, and that's as familiar with it he is. Trump literally thought the President was all powerful and above scrutiny..............even though he himself blasted Obama for much of the same stuff he's doing.

I'm sure someone tried to set him straight, but if his name isn't mentioned every 30 seconds - he's done listening.

You are h**eful dumb Woody. The president is not holding the G7 summit at his resort in Miami, Fl. He is holding the Summit at Camp David in Maryland.
I just sent him an email confirming this few minutes ago. The G7 summit will be at Camp David.
What emolument clause are you talking about. You hope, so radicals could attack him.

I made a follow-up to hold the Summit at Camp David. And he usually listens.

Anything else lunatic?

He caved to pressure, this is what public outrage results in, if he had a brain it was obvious that this would be a seriously illegal and bad move. The GOP set him straight and told him they could not support this, that is otherwise known as reading the writing on the wall. You can count the times he "has listened" to the times when public and GOP backlash was strongest, that is the only time he has caved, or listened as you call it.

Do you realize that the Doral wasn't even on a long list of resorts being looked at until the donald said it?

Congress has every right to demand the work sheets on how the Doral was selected, which of course they would/could never comply with because there was no official federal contractor guidelines being followed. This was because Trump wanted it.

Watch the names please, you make no points by resorting to personal slurs.

What illegal are you talking about. You suspected that he will hold the Summit at his resort. It is your brain that planted on it. He has not done anything yet except to your imagination. Then you accuse him of a crime coming from the center of your demented brain.

They were all your suspicions because you radicals are all jealous he has a beautiful resort. Everything coming out from your imaginations that he will hold the summit in his resort. It all came from your dirty brains.

Bloody damned shame that you can't understand the black and white nature of how the Constitution is written.

I wonder how often JFK conducted state business at the Kennedy estate in Martha's Vineyard. Or, how often LBJ did the same at his Texas ranch. Or GHW Bush at Kennebunkport, or GW Bush at his ranch in Texas. Or George Washington at Mount Vernon.

l*****ts progs are a disgrace. If I had the power to do so, I'd round you all up and deport you to a country where you could enjoy life and you wouldn't (or couldn't) whine and cry and piss and moan about the leader. How about life under Putin or Xi or that crazy bastard up in North Korea or how about some time under the Saudi royals?

These fools don't realize how much money would have been saved by holding the summit at Doral. President Trump was willing to lease it at cost, no profit whatsoever.

It does not matter to the radical DEMS even if we save hundreds of millions of dollars. What bothers them is when the luxury and beauty of the resort is displayed to the eyes of the world, they'll be do so enraged and jealous of the president, and wanted to tear them down.

So, I think the president will hold the G7 Summit on May 2020, at Camp David in Maryland.
