About a dollar bill:

A dollar bill is about .004" thick.

One thousand dollars stacked would be 4 inches high.

One million dollars stacked would be 4000 inches = 333.33.. feet high.

One billion dollars stacked would be 333,333.33 feet = 63.13 miles high.

One trillion dollars stacked would be 63,131,131.13 miles high.

We need to change some laws to take care of the national debt.

Agreed, but people are not willing to accept curtailing of spending.

It didn't make sense to increase the deficit by several hundred billion giving an unnecessary tax break to the wealthy. That is first grade economics.

"People" would have been willing to not give a tax break to the wealthy. Or how about a tax break for working people but not the wealthy, that would have been easy enough if the real goal wasn't giving it to the wealthy and would have added a far smaller increase in the deficit.

Look at the bright side. If we run up some more debt we could climb to the moon.
